Thread: Which ship to level?

Greetings;

I'm currently a rebel 4-4-3-3 pilot, and I'm wondering which ship would be best for me at this point. I currently have two main fighters, an x-wing and an a-wing. Overall, the x has an extra gun (I havn't managed to get a third on it), as well as about 900 more hitpoints in armor and shields front and back. On the other hand, my a-wing is far more maneuverable, and I do have a near-3000 damage cannon strapped to it (not at the cost of engines- I had one RE'd to get the weight down). So, my overall question is what ship would be better to fly for the PvE training missions. I'd appreciate any help you could give.

Xwing - the extra firepower is much more important in PvE, where enemy fightersdont hit you nearly as hard as enemy capital ships or other players do

Your layout should look somethin like this:

(RE) T6 Reward Engine

RE Level 4 Capacitor with 1000+ energy

RE Level 4 Booster, if you want a booster

Crafted or Looted Level 3 Reactor with 13k+ energy

Looted T2/3 Armor, whatever you can fit on after everything else

Crafted level 6/7 shields, aim for 1400 f/b and 11 rc at least, you can probably get better

3 RE T6/7 Blaster

Prenerf (or T3 postnerf) DI

Droid with CO3 WO3 EO3 RO3 CtSS3

Thats the layout I used, with the X having 3 guns is crucial. That should provide you with plenty of mass to work with, still, and enough firepower, and doesnt require extreme luck, endless space looting or guildies to hook you up with anything

with GWVS its incredibly easy to find REable or REd parts, especially guns, to trick your ship out.

Ah, this will help a TON. Many thanks.

What exactly does the prenerfdroid interfacething mean, though? Did they hit them all, or just certain ones?

pre-nerf DIs: in the early days of JTL, there was a bug that level 1droid interfaces would have speeds of around 15, while level 10s would have around 35, so it was the complete opposite of what was intended. the problem was fixed, but a few rare 500 mass, 14 speeders remain.

For leveling id use the x-wing but for all kind of missions where you are in danger of being overrun by many opponents you should use the a-wing... though with shield shunt npcs arent that dangerous anymore...

Well, I just tried out a few of the upgrades recommended here, and I have to say they helped a LOT! Especially the 3 guns and capacitor to shield shunt thing. I admit that I wasn't able to find many imperial programs on the venders here, but what I have really helped. Thanks again!

I flew a Y-Wing right up through 4444. I was able to fit the 2500 hit point lvl 8 reward shields onto it.Combined with cap overload 3and sheild shunt 4 it was one heck of a tank. With the tier 3 reward engine and engine overload 3 it was even manuverable.
