Is there a way to avoid being hit by missiles once the Incoming Missile warning flashes across the screen?
I realise chaff systems are an option, but how about flying out of its path? Can you roll away, or put on booster just before it hits to avoid impact? Or, are you merely limited to chaff?
Thanks,
Ato

Only way without things like chaff is to boost stright ahead, you need to go very fast, you can't out turn them they always blow up on your aft shield, they even stop and wait till they are on your aft shield, i've seen them do 2 loops and then stop and blow right on my rear (almost took me out in an a-wing once). no point in chaff really since npc's don't use missiles often and they are a bit weak.

throttle it into a turn.
going full throttle then trying to spiral wont do it. you gotta start your turn, then throttle up, letting the added momentum carry you.
it depends on the ship as well, and even at best it only works maybe a third of the time.

I can usually shake missiles just by maneuvering - these are missiles fired from T4 TIE bombers; maybe T5 missiles have better guidance, but usually just pulling a hard up and over turn and slamming up the throttle will be enough to shake the lock

Chaff is the worst of the countermeasures. Once you can upgrade, do it. There is a remarkable difference in chaff and sensor-decoys, which I am currently using. I get hit without maneuvering about 1 in 5 times, probably less. But I seem to run into an abnormally large number of bombers hehe. If you have a joystick, remap your countermeasure button to it, I've found my reaction time to be about 200% faster than reaching across my keyboard.

Most of the time when an NPC fires a missle at me they do so at very close range. There isn't enough reaction time to deploy a countermeasure or take evasive action. I just keep my shields pumped up with the shield shunt programs and hope for the best.

You know, I've had missiles hit me while my ship was hyperspacing. You know that animation where your ship just takes off like a bat out of hell? Well, that blue missile streak will overtake you and hit you.
I'm fairly certain thatmissile hits by NPCs are treated a lot like the Aggressor's turret. Yeah, it's possible that it can miss you, but it's pretty unlikely.
I make my own chaff and it's been very effective at keeping multiple Tier 5 Oppressors from turning me into space dust in Deep Space. In PvP, I've never had someone achieve a missile lock on me. I'm not sure how the countermeasures will work against other players.

actually I find that sensor decoys work very well against player missiles, particullarly image rec. missiles. I have had a player attempt to joust me and he fired a missile at 500m then started firing his guns. I rolled down and out, used the sensor decoy, came around and popped him with my blasters....sent him at tell
"that'll teach you to try to use missiles on me!"

Honestly, in PvE, i havent noticed much of a difference. I must use standard chaff that i make. I get missle warning, pop a chaff and i dont get hit. *shrug*
