I've read up on the guides to the Vette (I'm rebel), and figured I'd give it a shot solo and see how far I could get. There were about 3 gunboats cruising around the despawn, wasnt sure if one was just astatic spawn so I took them out (they didnt die, they despawned too after I got their shields down, is that normal?), then noticed the Star Ravager was already there. The TIE escort wasnt a problem to lure off and dispatch, but the Vette itself was constantly rolling and turning, so it was impossible to get a good line on the underside to take out gun 5 and make a blind spot.
Is this whats referred to as vette "bucking"? Will it always do that now? Does it only do that under certain conditions? It was really frustrating, hoping thatitsstill possible tostay in the baffles

It does it randomly. If you want to try something to get it to stop, find a freelance pilot and get them to launch a pirate trap at it.
That's worked for me on the ones that never stop twisting. The short and pointless attack seems to calm them down a bit.

Whoever decided to add the bucking movement must have been smoking some quality stuff to think it was a good idea. Honestly, how the hell does something so bulky move like that?

But sometimes it cruises along serenely, still, too?

MOST of the time. Often it'll get disturbed and start having a fit(I can usually predict it through experience and feel; it happens rather regularly, I think), other times it'll start for no reason.
Most of the time it'll last a few seconds, sometimes it'll last a few minutes, and sometimes it keeps twisting until it jumps.

I think what you're seeing is the same phenomenon that causes the drunken bees in other ships. The server is having some issue, and updates on the location and orientation of ships become sporadic. The program tries to compensate for the jumps by smoothing the motion as best it can, causing the twisty turny look, instead of just having it teleport elsewhere.
So, the game decides the corvetteshould have beenZ+15m from where it is, and all of a sudden, it pitches and rolls real quick to make the correction, and then does the same again to try to come back on it's correct line.
That's what it feels like to me, anyway.

The Crazy Ivan has to do with the size of the ship relative to the course correction. Sometimes when atacked, the ship goes evasive. But because it also is flying a flight plan, it goes crazy trying to decide which to choose, evade or path.

They really need to fix that. Its ashamed such a beautiful 3d model that someone oviously spend alot of time on ends up looking so stupid bobbing around like a cork. And to top it off, its constantly being rammed up the tail pipe over and over by the gunboat escort! Has anyone ever tryed to fly in formation with it when its bobbing around? Not very fun.
