Thread: 2 Ideas

I agree with #1 but could have some PvP issues. It might be abused if an SL uses this information to expose your skills/stats/weaknesses etc...to the enemy. This is the reason your profession title is user configurable.

Here are a few more ideas about the revision of the SL profession. First of all i want to say that i support Captain in his work. Second, i apology in case of what follows isn't very clear... English is not my natural language and i left school a long time ago

1) A SL should know his team quickly : that's why i propose to bring a new command in.
It would bring out a board including the name of all the characters in the team, their professions, status (AFK, LD and/or distance from the SL, overt or covert). That board would also provide certain interesting tools such as the possibility to create some teams into the teams, assignating a number to each of them. The number of each sub-team would appear in the group window, on the left of players name. A private message would be automatically sent : "You are in team #1".

2) Revision of the XP SL system. At the moment (correct me if i'm wrong), that gain is founded on the amount of damages a SL made by taking part in the combat. But sometimes you don't fight, you just lead your group from a safe place. The SL XP should come from the amount of damages of the entire group. Also, what do you think about a XP bonus when using the active "buff" commands ?

I have 2 ideas rolling around in my head and wanted to get the pilot community's opinions on them

#1 a 5 min timer when leaving DS that your DI drops to 0 speed (so you can rerun all your overloads instantly and get back in faster)

#2 Elite Ordanance
Missiles and spacebombs are close to worthless in PvE, What if POB's could all carry 2 more ordinance slots that were for super-heavy ordinance, something usefull. Like spacebombs that did 100k-150k damage, protons packing 30k damage each.

The ordanance idea needs tweeking, so I toss it to the forum for it

Well they are oth kinda neeeding some work, as for the DI with 0, all your gonna get are people who jumpp in, and jump to run their programs. the second one i like, but in PvP there is no hope of it helping, 4 shots and the POB is dead anyways.

For real! I dont see why we should have to wait to get ready for combat. I always thought starwars tecnology was like really advanced. My old 200mhz computer I have stuffed in my closet can run faster than the DIs we got! Now I can understand a timer on shield shunt. But unless you got a kick @ss capacitor that weighs more than your ship, it really doesent make much difference. you'll just be dumping an empty capacitor into your shields.

The elite ord is not for pvp, it's for pve

as it stands, my HUGE ship can't carry enough ordanace to bring down a single gunboat.

POB's should be able to carry torpedo's or bombs the size of a-wings

and whats wrong with JUST being able to run your programs? Who likes to sit for 5 mins or more and run droid programs

Honestly, the DI Timers should not be dropped at any time, the overload timers should just go away since they are useless sit around time.

I can see no real value in having timers on the OVERLOADS other than as a time waster.

Note: This does NOT include CtSS or any of the in combat use Droid Commands, ONLY the Overloads

I actually like having overloads take a bit of time, and I don't think it's excessive.

The shield commands (aside from shunt) really need time reduced for them to be useable in combat. Who can afford to shift power around much if you have no chance of running another command for the next minute? A minute is a *long* time in PvP.

Hmm, I run a pre-nerf DI, Overloads take 7-8 minutes...I find that overly long *shrug*

You can shorten overload times by hypering between systems.

Example:

I run WCO4. When the timer until the next droid program can be run hits 45 or less, I start a hyperspace jump to a different system. Right before I jump, I activate the next program in the sequence--maybe RO4. Immediately upon entering the next system, I run my next overload--EO4. If I'm going to jump into a hot zone, I wait until it hits 45 seconds of delay left and start my next jump, then hit WO3 right before the jump takes effect. When I enter the next system, I'm fully combat-ready, including ready to shield shunt.

Right, the fact that you do this, in my mind at least, means the times should be shortened or just dropped.

I am just saying, since EVERYONE uses them ALL the time, there is just no valid "edge" either way...just drop the timers, they serve no purpose except keeping people from rejoining combat that much sooner
