I've been gone for about 2 months and am returning now to finish up my FL Corsec Pilot missions. I'm 4434 and ready to take my final mission and then do the Master missions.

I'm hesitant, since I remember trying to solo it myself, with bad results.

Just looking for some moral support. Tell me I can do it if I'm just patient...or something like that.

You can do it if you are patient

Also highly recommended are reading the guides in the stickies above, and visiting the Corvette Hulk in Yavin Space for to orient yourself. Figure out top from bottom (big lumps bad- look and you'll understand). Practice diving at the underbelly of the hulk, and get the hang of things. Also remember as a Corsec, a vette will not shoot you until you shoot it. This makes soloing actually quite easy. Just... fly casual. get up underneath, very carefully line up your shot on turret 5, and blast it in a couple seconds. Then as the Escort scrambles on you, you dive down and away, spiraling like mad and shunting if you need to. Once out of range of the vette, you can safely turn and begin to work the fighters. After they are eliminated, return to taking out the 'vette.

For preparation and for the sake of a new ship for my Master Missions, I did a vette run for the Vaksai and did it in one try! That was fun!
