Overall, the L8 reward shield you get RE's out to over 2500 front and back, with a great recharge rate and the mass can be knocked down with luck. For your 100k+ mass ship that's the one you want.

For your 60K plus ship, a good shipwright will most likely make you the best overall shields. I speak only from my experience, since I haven't found a good loot shield that has as much protection and as little mass as the Shipwright can craft.

For your low mass ship, you can still squeeze in an REd L8 reward shield, or you can use a Mark IV crafted. A Mark IV with overcharger experimented for mass will be about 14k mass, 1700 f/r. A Mark IV with overcharger experimented for shield energy will be about 17k mass, 1900 f/r. Shields crafted with good resources tend to be better than most loot drops. (I said MOST, there are always exceptions...) I find reactors and armor fall in the same category.

Working to RE an L7 shield is also a valid option, it will get you the good points of the ALL crafteds listed, and mitigate the bad ones (high reactordrain, or higher mass). Personally I would love to advocate crafted, but there is just no way to beat a good RE.

okay this seems to mesh what i have found... unfortunetly i lost track of mt lv8 reward... prolly sold it to the chassis dealer. I did manage to buy a 2500 shield with about 33k mass(?).

and the level 7 and 8 loot shields seem to be okay, so ill start savbing those hlkpefully get two good ones for mass and protection.

That is the reward shield.

The lowest I've gotten L8s is 26 and 27k, but I've heard of exceptional mass L8 shields dropping where people have hit 17&19k (don't wait up for loot like this). The highest regen L8 I've found is 15.62, and the lowest reactor drain was a shade over 2000.

Mon Cal Advanced Ionwebs seem to have the best cross-section of good stats for L8s, so look on the bazaar to see if there are any of those up there.
