Is anyone doing the Imperial Vette mission this evening on Starsider? I was in Kessel at 6:30 CST this evening and the Vette was just getting ready to exit.

I looked at dulc's page about the vette and the listed waypoints...is it the same for every server? I'm on Chilastra (and intrepid) can I mail the wp to my other char? Also, I compare waiting for the vette to the moisture farmer on tat, lol. I flew from the entry point to the exit point a few times and saw nothing. Normally before I got to thelast guy's misison, I'd see the vette all over the place and just finish the last gunboat before i'd see the vette hyper out, so I take it I should sit at the entry point to give myself the best chance to fully kill it. I practiced on the royal guard interceptor mission (a vette you have to disable then of course escorte) and it got killed by a gunboat (shoulda killed the gb first, not the lousy fighters)

Yes, it's the same place on each server. It's not really like the Hero of Tat quests, though, you don't need to go searching for it. Just sit there and wait (but check the exit point first, to be sure there are no spinning GBs preventing entry).

I would suggest hitting it around the entry point(after making sure the exit is clear). The vette tends to do a mid-kessel rodeo about 10 minutes into it's flight for long periods of time and often. Once it's bucking, it's not fun to play with. This is only a suggestion, you can try when you feel comfortable, just going off of my experiences with it.

If you're going to hit it near the entry point, try to make sure you have some room to fight without hitting the edges. That could spoil your whole day if it holds you in range of the Corvette.

Makes sure you concentrate on the vette enough to take the engines out first, before the gunboats. once the engine has been taken, it can't hype. You can the proceed at your leisure taking the vette and gunboats. Just make sure you don't get a lamer coming up and stealing your kill.

Ok, so there I was, kash system, space station. Lady disable this vette and I get some cool new ship. Needless to say, I knew I was gonna die. I'm not asking how to beat a vette. The answer to that is track down the best pilots on your server and beg them for help. What I would like to know is.....has anyone done this quest and finished it and is teh ship you get worth it?

That mission vette isn't as tough as a normal kessel style Vette and it's escorts are Tier 3 and 4.

When I first saw that group of ships I thought.... oh crap!

Use a bomber strike to distract the Corvette and engage the fighters. They aren't that tough and as long as u keep fighting they soon thin out and dissapear.

This mission is just to disable the ship so there are only 3 targets to hit on the Vette. Shield, secondary shield and engine. When those are gone, get out of the vette's gunnery range (1km) and wait until it's captured.

U then get to go on one of the more fun escort runs with the Vette fully armed and operational. About 10 waves of fighters attack. Don't worry too much about this as they attack the corvette directly. Just feel free to engage as u wish as the vette usualy rips them up for you.

Like I said, may look hard, but check the escorts. They're Tier 3 and 4.

Hmmm, there a better way Ruud.

Firstly, this missions is more than soloable. But take a friend to chat to on the way.

Take out the fighters, making sure you don't hit the Vette, then settle down right behind the central engine port, and hit the shields, with a few Mk III proton/concussions. Then hit the engines with your blasters. Let the thing settle and let the engineers capture the bridge. If you sit behind the the central engine port you won't need to take any of the guns, this allows the vette guns to defend itself with, once the mercs spawn.

As to the original question of if the ship you get is worth it. If it's the Advanced X-Wing, then yes. If it's the Royal Guard Tie Interceptor, then yes (even though it has a bugged hitbox) If it's the Vaksai, then yes. This ship may only have 1 weaponslot, but you can fit lvl 10 stuff in this ship, and it slips and slides like a veteran Politician trying to get out of a scandal situation.

Oh, by the way, when the Tier 5 gunboats spawn, leave them be. Kepp out of agro range, and just let the vette do it's thing. Make sure you clear all attacking fighters though, as they missile the Vette and help take down the systems a lot quicker. Run the Vette up to 1k from the station and watch it hype. Talk to the station, and you get a nice shiney new Heavy weight ship.

Hope this helps

I'm actually a neutral pilot and I think the girl at teh station told me it was a black sun prototype or something like that, but it probably is comperable to the heavy X-wing, its the nuetral version.

It's the Vaksai, and it's more than worth the trouble.

Yes it is worth the touble but you may find out that its not really comparable to the X-wing. The Vaksai is best at PVP. If you are Freelance and only PVE you probabaly want to get your hands on a Krayt (Ace Level ship) or the Rhxik a teir 4 ship.

As both of those ships will put you inchargeof 3 guns and you can outdamage thesingle gun of the Vaksai. Sure you will not have the speed or slide or the Vaksai but both the Krayt and Rhxik do well enough to compete with about any Teir 4 or 5 Ship. The only exculsions would be if you don't know how to take out Ghrag Gunboats (those can eat anyone alive if you haven't faced one before)
