Thread: Feedback idea: bonus for using your own faction droid commands

Here's an idea to chew on:

What do you think about faction pilots get a bonus for using their own faction's droid commands? Makes sense that you would be better at executing droid commands of your own faction. Was thinking something along the lines of non-faction commands would only be 75% as effective.

Probably not the first time it's been brought up, but I'd like to see faaction choice matter a little more than the shape of a ship.

Well I agree with you that "some" faction should play more of a role. I can see a big downside to the droid command idea. I personally have pilots of 2 of the factions most of the time (currently 1 reb, 1 neut and about to be 1 reb 1 imp) the 2 most "prized" commands are Engine Overload and Weapon overload. While WO will not change much, EO bonus for Imperial pilots might be a bit unballancing with most pilots fling ROTW ships. If you were to go back to a pre-ROTW time I could see it less of an issue with the mass restrictions of the TIEs.

So good idea, but I think the droid commands are the wrong place to look for it

Actually, I think your idea is based on a flawed principle. The pilot is never executing the program--the droid or the flight computer is.

actually I'd like to see lvl 5 commands for each in master box only, only usuable by ace of said faction for equal drain/drawback of the lvl 4 equivalent.

ie EO5would give 150% spd +50% man. max

CO5would give 225% max energy X6 regen

sheild adjust front give110% sheilding front 10% back (more than total I know)

shunt 5 takes 100% of energy and adds 1.25 times energy to sheilds (awesome for YT 1300)

Well, you could think of it as using pirated copies of code on ships it was not designed for as opposed to executing out-of-the-box software expressly written for a faction's ships.

Wow, thats harsh.

I have a MA / DE / MS alt and I never thought of that.

I quess you could make a disposable Mouse or R5 and let it get eaten while you check the harvestor.

I'd feel bad for the little guy though.

rebels would get the total shaft from this idea

IMO cap to shield shunt should have been a rebel program

Instead of a effectiveness bonus, what about a program size modifier? Use an off faction program, takes a little more room...

Of course as mentioned above, both ideas royally shaft Rebels pilots.

I like both of the other suggestions in this thread: a non-transferable master level program and program size penalties for non-faction programs.

Oh, and don't feel sorry for my droids....it's in their contract when they are hired, hehe. They know their place is getting between the bad guys and my poor, soft crafter skin.

The rebel commands take to long to reset. If they reset faster they might be actually usefull.

As it is all droid commands are turn on and forget. This makes them bascially an indefinate buff. The tactical use of droid commands occurs only when your opponent forgets to turn them on.

Personally, I think droid commands ought to be universalized, of any change at all is made to them. Their current implementation is silly and their 'specialness' is easily circumvented anyways. Droid commands IMO should have been something everyone had equal access to that were used on a universal level during combat - rather than being buffs you load up with the occasional shield toggle.

Ship commands, on the other hand, could use a bit more diversification perhaps (at least the addition of more useful commands that aren't overpowering).

I personally think all droid commands need a revamp, but I defiantely don't think adding more elite factional commands is the way to do it. The whole system needs to move away from being buffs to returning to the management system it was meant to be.

Heck, why do you think all the underload commands exist?
