Well, my hands finally stopped shaking after solo'ing my first Kessel Corvette, so I thought I'd share my story with you all. And first off, start out with a thanks to all the pilots who post here, the info is invaluable.

Ok, I hypered into Kessel with the intent of finishing off my SA Master, had my Bell22 loaded down with 2 blasters and a rack of Mark3 concussion missles, just cruising around looking for the Vette. Pop up the waypoint mentioned in the FAQ for the Star Ravager entry point and head out. As luck would have it, the Vette is not there. Can't really decide what to do with myself, since I was really intent on this being a Vette only mission, but I know that the spawn is on a timer so I figure a little more dogfighting practice can't hurt.

Start with some warm-ups on the Advanced TIEs, work my way through some Interceptors and Oppressors as well, just to make sure my guns can take down the tier5 guys efficiently. I figure I've got some time if my equipment needs a tweak here and there. Then decide to take on some Aggressors, get some practice dealing with that nasty tail gun and see how much my shields can hold if I get caught in a bad place with one.

Still no Vette, and I'm just about to hyper out of the system when I see that beautiful box target on my radar. Ok, its go time now I think. Sit out about 3000m from the Vette to get my orientation and come in directly under her, targeting gun5 the whole time. As soon as that green target reticle pops, I start blasting. Down gors gun5, whew I think, now I've got a safe spot under her to deal with. Get the fighter escort to follow me out to 2000m from the Vette and we begin dancing. Took the Aggressors first, just since I'm so juiced up now, I dont want to have to worry about where they are. Ok, feeling good now. All of the fighters are dead and just the gunboats and Vette left.

Come back in under the GBs and start blasting. Find myself drifting to their direct 6 o'clock and taking some fire. CSS4 and move away, and realize I need some on-the-job training staying dircetly under them. No worries I figure I have time. Drop the first gunboat. By now I've got my feel for 'scooting' up under them and take the second without a problem.

Ok, now for the Vette I figure I'm home free now and just missles left for the win, when I realize my target lock isn't popping up. Oh no, did i forget to load my missles I think, and as I'm going through my loadout in my head the Vette Jinks and I'm taking fire. Ok, get outta dodge I think and move away as fast as possible. Get 2km from the Vette and realize in my excitement I forgot to assign the missles to a weapon slot. Ok, drop em in slot3 and head back in. Drop the shileds, kill the reactor, blast the bridge, and bingo down goes the Vette. Nothing left, GBs gone, all is well. And then I realize I haven't blinked in about 5 minutes and sit shaking and totally exhausted in front of my screen.

Thanks again to all those who post here, all the advice and tips were a big help as I moved through Pilot. And I have to say that solo'ing the Vette made me feel like an Ace, but now I want to try it again without the missles.

And as a side note, since my toon is a female, she didn't get her Ace medal (thought that was fixed now?), whichreally didn't bother me at allas I spent the rest of the night just enjoying cruising in my new YT-1300.
