Thread: Yet another E-pulse thread

So, uh...what's the deal-ie-o with all the E-pulse threads recently? We all know that it's cheap and probably broken, it's banned in PvP events on Starsider and that's how I like it? Why the sudden calamity over something that's less important than the lag caused by the 'extra' guns on the ISD in Deep Space? Am I just going crazy?

You shouldn't need to 'ban' certain aspects of the game to make the game enjoyable.

To fix e-pulse, they just have to mitigate damage to both side of.. Ah forget it... It's like banging my head on a brick wall embeded with sharp peices of glass.

Anyways to prevent the lag in DS I usually proceed to blow away every gun on the ISD then leave it. Lag gone until some joker decides to take out the ISD.

I'm not talking about banning e-pulse. It was done because our pilot base felt that it was the most prudent course of action.

As for the ISD...I'm too lazy to take out all the guns. Next time I'll just take Halyn along and make him do it. You hear that, Five?

Make Stark do it, Six. That thing really shouldn't lag up space like it does, though--it's horrendous.

The third factor would probably be that there are less privateers than factioned pilots.

Which, unfortunately, might possibly be the result of their ships being so ridiculously unsuited for PVP, and PVP being the current endgame of JTL.

Face it Tomo, the only way we're ever going to get post-Master content for JTL is if Force Lightning starts shooting out of ships. It ain't pretty, but it's probably the truth.

I certainly think that's part of it. I also think that Freelance gets treated as the red-headed stepchild of the pilot community to some extent. People love us when they need to even up sides at an event. But our concerns seem to go largely ignored when issues are discussed. It's tough to be Freelance if you want to PvP, and personally, I wouldn't have it any other way. But a little respect and consideration would be nice, too. Space isn't all about what's best for A-wings and TIEs; it should be about what's best for the community as a whole. That mindset wouldencourage more freelancers to participate,IMO.

Honestly, I think if epulse were abused more often, it wouldn't seem so odd if it were brought up all the time. But something about the pilot community and the pilot mindset in general makes it less of an issue than it ought to be.. in my humble opinion.

I dunno whether that's because we've got less PVP than the ground, more honorable PVP than the ground, some combination of the two, or a third factor.

Still, I really like the debate going on about it right now. I personally don't like epulse at all, but hearing some passionate arguments from the other side of the aisle helps me to understand where they're coming from and how I might alter my opinion to take that mindset into account.
