I am a noob piolot and I am more comfortable in game (both land and space) from third person. Am I making things harder on myself or do more people actually do this?

Making things harder on yourself. I prefer 3rd person on ground, but for flying, 1st person all the way.

I find third person so much easier in space, it gives me a greater feel for whats happening around me than first person gives

I play in 3rd person, with a little bit of tweaking on the camera elasticity. Gives you a great feeling, like playing Rogue Squadron 2/3

I started playing 3rd person on a whim, because I was tired of looking at NPC ships and wanted to see my own. Once I tweaked the settings to suit me, I found it was really nice for piloting. My spatial awareness improved, as well as my aim.

I tend to switch back and for though, depending on which ship im flying, and whether Im in a roleplay mood. In practical terms 3rd person is great, but it's not very immersive.

What I do is hit CTRL+Shift+h and that removes all the UI clutter from the screen (except those damn blue and red boxes!) then I fly in 3rd person. Its like flying in the films. Just whack up the surround sound and enjoy!

If you want to go mad get 2 networked computers - line them up one behind the other then get your mate to sit atthe back oneand he can be your Ywing gunner (I have to try this one too lol!).

I fly 1st unless piloting a POB ship - usually I have to fly those in 3rd person so I can see what my gunners are doing. I never could get used to 3rd person in space.

3rd person all the way tbh. Better spatial awareness and aiming, and you can manuever better.

lol, I'm a bit of a composite pilot.

I can't stand 3'd person in dogfights your turning so hard you can't see what your shooting at.

At the same time, I allways use 3'd person out of combat.

3rd person for me,first person streeses me out for the sheer lack of being able to follow a target.
