I have and Imperial Aceand a Freelance Ace on Bria.I decided todo rebel onKettlemoor and gotmy X-Wing last night. So cool. Best ship in the game I think (second to my YT of course). I am generally a die hard Imperial but the Devs did a great job with this ship.

I think the rebels definately have the cooles experience, after flying in those Y-Wings moving up to the X is just an amazing feeling.

on a rating of 1-10 what would you put an X-Wing as?

a TIE Interceptor? based on performance..y-p-r + speed etc...which would you prefer? i know that the TIE Interceptors have better stats, according to my official prima guide book. cheers!!

I love interceptor for PVP, but Interceptor is more like an A-Wing IMO. The interceptor has a very low mass... X-Wing has almost double the mass. X-Wing also has 3 guns. X-Wing has great stopping power but is not as manuverable at high speeds as an A-wing or Interceptor. I think much of my judgement about it is asthetical, such as how the wings open and close, the spread of the fire, the stopping power, etc. It is just a ton of fun to fly and a good overall fighter. At tier 3 I can kill tier 5's easily. Overall so far it has seemed that Imperial was much more difficult than even rebel or freelancer. I think that is because Imperials start out with low mass ships moving to higher mass ones. Both rebel and freelancers have much more mass to deal with earlier and for this reason can place more guns--hence easier to kill things.

In pvp the Interceptor is great. It is hard to give a rating of 1-10 because I feel that each ship has its role, and to me this is good balance. Opressor is probably the best bomber/fighter hybrid in the game. A-wing is superior to the Interceptor (possibly) as the fast in and out light fighter. X-Wing is kind of in a unique class... I would compare it to the kimogila but with less mass and no rear turret. Overall it is just fun to fly and to look at, and has ample stopping power and enough manuverability to be a great overall fighter.

Xwing has the best manuverablity to mass ratio in the game. Plop a 70ish YPR engine in it, and you might even think your flying an A wing.

Having gotten used to working with low mass chassis, if i were to ever fly an xwing again, i could make miracles happen It really is a fine ship and i do miss flying one.

The x-wing is the best ship ive flown so far, i use an engine with 69/70/69 Y/P/R, and overload the weapons, and im unstopable

As always(from the old X-Wing games, even), the X-Wing is my 2nd favorite to the A-Wing. I just like my ship to be more specialized on one thing to exploit your enemies' weaknesses, rather than relying on being well-rounded.

I've found that with my current equipment, I prefer the handling of the xwing over my awing. I am fast enough in either ship, to require /matchspeed and a slowdown once I get behind someone. This is my favorite tactic, and it works far better in the X than the A. Simple reason is the max PYR envelope is at 60-80% throttle for the X, and when I match in this is almost invariablythe zone I end up in. I pull behind, match speed, and my nose snaps right in line with the kill zone while im turning inside the foe. 6,6,7 RE'd guns overload make fast work of most anyone. I still have a hell of a lot of fun in my A, but for sheer PvE kill speed, nothing is topping my X for me. Its even a tossup between that and my alt's Krayt, since I need a few more better RE'd guns for that.

besides the 3rd gun accounting for 6 total blasters my experience, as a neutral, Im always releived when i see a friend flying his Xwing.

I wouldnt go so far as to call it the best... but it is a really good ship.

Someone had better explain this one to me...

A TIE Interceptor has one primary weapon mount. How does the X-Wing have three? Are they stacked up on the S-Foils or something?? This doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. In the movies/books/rest of the Star Wars Universe they don't have three. Dual missile launchers I could understand...but not three primary weapons. I digress. I just want to be able to link my weapons and change the pattern of fire. I miss XvT...

2 on the wings (accounting for all 4) just like in the movies, then another pair right next to the cockpit.

If I felt like getting the weapons for it, I'd do that in my X-Wing, but since I don't have to do annoying strafing runs on tier 5's and am much better in PvP with the A-Wing, I use it 99% of the time I'm in space.

I dont have to do strafing runs on tier5's either, except for gunboats, and I was talking about PvE not PvP.

the xwing properly equiped can really dish out the hurt, but its a large target and you take alot of fire. i use it for farming loot and such, but when i need to get something dangerous done i switch to the awing just for the survivability. with my awing i can blow up the start destroyer in deep sapce in a few minutes without even having to pull back and recharge my shields. if i try that in my xwing i get lit up pretty hard.

as for the imperial side i like the advanced ALOT. by having 2 guns instead of one, i can mount a lvl6 and lvl7 gun as opposed to a single lvl8 in my awing and get far more firepower while also saving mass. if you ask me the interceptor needs to have 2 guns mounts also.
