After receiving this ship and proudly wearing my "heavy X-wing" badge, I quickly raced to the starport to try it out. Scavenging my TIE Advanced for parts, I outfitted my Interceptor with parts and went to deep space to try it out and search for badass loot guns to RE.
I had a great time flying this ship, crushing B-wings and X-wings and A-wings galore, until I noticed something strange-- I didn't seem to be takeing any damage to my sheilds at all!
"Wow!" I thought to myself, "I sure have become a great pilot to avoid the blaster fire of those 12 B-wings chasing me!"
I then noticed that I was hearing the "pshshst!" sound of blaster on shield, but wasn't getting damaged. I pulled some more fighters, which peppered me constantly, and I did start taking damage, but very subtle, minor damage.
As a final test, I flew between two of those gunboat lines of 3 and opened fire on all of them. "pssht pssht pshht" I got hit constantly, and DID take damage- a lot of damage- but I was not dead. My sheild dropped to about 1/5th, I hit cap to shield and got out of there. I am certain that if I had been using the same shield with my advanced, I would be dead.
So whats up? I cannot truly find satisfaction in pwning space in a bugged fighter (albeit a very cool bugged fighter).
Untested: Me vs corvette.
Me vs player.
So as I see it, one of these things is true:
1) My piloting ability is absolutley unmatched by man or beast.
2) This is the first ROTW ship I have piloted-- it is possible that some sick innate ability to not get hit is granted to all ROTW ships to further unbalance them.
3) NPCs have taken some sort of recent downgrade I failed to notice before.
4) The Imperial Guard Interceptor is horribly bugged and therefore unbalanced and needs to be fixed, now Now NOW!
Does anyone else have any insight on this issue? I hate to think my intrest in using a speedy, cool ship BESIDES THE JEDI STARFIGHTER is somehow harming the game.

Ive got one, tbh i prefer flying the TIE adv but thats another discussion.
Ive encountered invulnrablity bugs now and then, but they dont last long.
What tier ships were you fighting? sometimes with shields of 1800+ anything below tier3 doesnt seem to cause any damage.

This isn't the first time this has been reported - there's a good chance the damage hitbox on the RG might be very small.

Thats what ive been told, its a very small hitbox. I think Leaph told me you have to hit the upper part of the ball to acutally get a hit in.

I was fighting tier 5 ships and tier 5 gunboats in deep space, as described in the OP.
Thanks for the responses... I guess its an intended thing then, and I'll just enjoy it, but it feels like cheating...

I flew my Red Interceptor for the first time last night and while I noticed what you mentioned happening once or twice against Tier 5 X-wings, when up against B-wings spamming missiles and against corvettes the damage to shields seemed to be identical to when flying my advanced (same components).
Could be that the hitbox for damage is extremely small yet the ship still registers it somehow and triggers the shielding sound effect?
