Preface:
Go get yourself a MK III Concussion missle launcher with at least 12 rounds of ammo. Ammo packs should be of good quality and have all experimentation points used in Min and Max damage.

Appendium:
It is important that you kill the gunboats. If you try and cheese your way through this encounter by not killing the gunboats, you screw up the corvette spawn for other people. The gunboats will travel to the exit point and loiter there until someone kills them. Until someone does kill them, the corvette will not respawn. (The corvette Respawn timer is 2 hours.) To put it plainly, if you can't kill a couple gunboats, you are no Ace by any stretch of the imagination or use of the word. This guide tells you how to kill them, there is no excuse NOT to kill the gunboats.

- Imperial Bomberstrike version
- RSF/Imperial "Bstrike?! I dont need no stinking Bstrike!" version
- Rebel pilot version.

Corvette layout

How to do the Rebel Corvette: (imperial Pilot version)
- Rebel Corvette spawns at (7367, -7585, -7534) and exits at (-6497, 4854, 6190).

Step by step:
1.) Wait
4000 meters or so from the spawn waypoint, when it spawns, let all the ships settle down and get into formation and start their flight path.

2.) Draw the fighters away for the BSTRIKE:
Come in fast, tag one fighter, boost away from the vette. Your pulling the fighter screen away from the vette. While you are engaging the fighters, target turret 5, and launch /bstrike 2.

*NOTE: if you do not draw the fighters away from the vette first, they will go after the bomberstrike. Bstrike works best when its unmolested by fighters, and will probably clean the vette of turrets for you if you allow it to work unimpeded.

3.) Check turret number 5:
Now that the fighters are gone, check turret 5 on the corvette. If its down, proceed to step 4, if its still up, check step 3a or just wait for the Bstrike to finish its work.

3a.) Turret 5 still up?
Come in directly UNDER the vette, target turret 5 and do a strafing run. You could also try torpedo's, but i find aquiring a missle lock takes a bit too long. Make sure you have CTSS4 ready incase you get hit..

4.) Kill the gunboats:
Come in from BEHIND and UNDER the rebel gunboats and target their engines, and disable them. A rebel gunboat has a really large blindspot (Rear turrent cannot fire downward), so their incredibly easy to remove. They stay in formation with the vette no matter what. If you can't remove these flying free xp with wings, you honestly don't deserve the ace title. Now kill them.

5.) Kill the Vette:
Now you have to destroy the vette. If it has remaing turrets or not is of little consquence as long as you stay under and behind the corvette at all times. With your missle launcher, shoot at the following components, it each takes two missles to destroy:

-Primary Shield
-Secondary shield

This will expose the Engine. Your already in position, shoot it out with blasters. Now shoot two more missles at the Reactor, and then the bridge. No, dont manuever around, stay where you are under and behind the corvette. Missles apparenly do not require line of sight.

KABOOM, no more corvette.

How to do the Rebel Corvette: ( The RSF, "I dont need no stinking Bomberstrike", version)
- Rebel Corvette spawns at (7367, -7585, -7534) and exits at (-6497, 4854, 6190).

Step by step:
1.) Wait
4000 meters or so from the spawn waypoint, when it spawns, let all the ships settle down and get into formation and start their flight path.

2.) Draw the fighters:
Get them away from the corvette/gunboat formation and kill them all.

***Note: Steps 2 and 3 are acutally interchangable in the case of privateers as the whole formation is yellow to you until you hit one of them. So it acutally makes sense to hit turret 5 first, then drag the fighters away. So if their still yellow to you, do step 3 before step 2. However if their red to you for whatever reason before you destroy turret 5, then follow the steps as listed. Step two, then three. ***

3.)Destroy turret number 5.
Come in directly UNDER the vette, target turret 5 and do a strafing run. You could also try torpedo's, but i find aquiring a missle lock takes a bit too long. Make sure you have CTSS4 ready incase you get hit..

KABOOM, no more corvette.

How to do the Imperial Corvette: (The rebel pilot version)
- Spawns at (7344, 7550, 6268) and exits at (-6650, -245, -6258).

Step by step:
1.) Wait
4000 meters or so from the spawn waypoint, when it spawns, let all the ships settle down and get into formation and start their flight path.

2.) Draw the fighters:
Get them away from the corvette/gunboat formation and kill them all.
- Kill the T/I's, T/A's and T/O's first. JOUST the aggressors either first, or last, depending on how much their hitting you. As long as you dont get directly behind an aggressor, i find them not much more than annoying, its getting behind one that sucks, so joust them unless your feeling confident with them.

***Note: Steps 2 and 3 are acutally interchangable in the case of privateers as the whole formation is yellow to you until you hit one of them. So it acutally makes sense to hit turret 5 first, then drag the fighters away. So if their still yellow to you, do step 3 before step 2. 3.) Destroy turret number 5.
Come in directly UNDER the vette, target turret 5 and do a strafing run. You could also try torpedo's, but i find aquiring a missle lock takes a bit too long. Make sure you have CTSS4 ready incase you get hit..

4.) Kill the gunboats:
The Imperial gunboats are acutally easy to kill once you know where the blindspot is.
That blindspot is acutally the same location as rebel gunboats, only the blindspot its a tad narrower. Come in from UNDER and BEHIND the gunboat, and *almost* to the center of its underbelly. The foward gun turrets firing arc ends about there, and the rear turret seems to have about a 20 degree downward firing arc.

***** In action, all this means is if you cant disable the engines quickly, you'll have to scoot foward a bit and reposition yourself before you come into the rear gun turrets firing arch. Other than that, theres NO DIFFERENCE between a rebel or imperial gunboat*******

Killing an imperial gunboat is about as easy as a rebel gunboat. They fly in formation and never break it. So NO EXCUSES, kill them. Again, if you can't take these out, KNOWING where to approach them from (and i just told you) you don't deserve the ace title.

5.) Kill the Vette:
Now you have to destroy the vette. If it has remaing turrets or not is of little consquence as long as you stay under and behind the corvette at all times. With your Missle launcher, shoot at the following components, it each takes two missles to destroy.

Edit:
Added extra gunboat emphasis

Great guide. Quick tip about the gunboats. If you stay 550m+ away from them, you can hit them but they can't hit you. For imperial gunboats take out gun 2 first and then progressively move through the rest of the guns. For rebel gunboats, take out their rear gun first (whatever that one is) and then move to the rest of the guns.

I presume for most of this CtSS3 will be just as good as CtSS4.

mmm good guide

only problem with the 550m technique is that the vette's guns reach out 1k, i had a "doh!" moment trying that method

oh yeah, "we don't need no stinking bomber strike!"- class

Hmm, I think if you take out gun 5... you should be ok taking out those gunboats from 550m as long as the vette doesn't do it's acrobatics. Just make sure to come in on those gunboats from the same side as gun 5.

I would say you are a bit mistaken about the approach to doing the vette for neutrals. The beautiful thing about being neutral is that whichever side's vette you are going after, they are yellow to you till you strike one of the ships in the vette group.

Here's what I did as RSF:

Come in beneath the vette at 200m, target gun 5, (again this only works if you have aggroed nothing in the group first) Spacebomb Mark 1 will kill it in 1 hit. you are now aggroed by everything in the vette group. boost down away from the Vette and GB's about 1000m.

Kill the fighter screen. I always start with the heaviest fighters first, and work to the lightest, so Bwings, Ywings, Xwings, Awings, in that order. The A wings will tend to team up to ping your rear, so if you need break off the heavy fighter you are working on come around behind them and shoot one or two of them, they will break and scatter.

Once the fighters are destroyed there are 2 options...1 is sissy and 2 is showing more cajones

Option 1, part A. Fly to front of vette and below, target primary shields, spacebomb, turn run in front of it again, turn, target secondary shield, spacebomb.

part B. You are out of spacebombs but oh well. come in from below and slightly behind..the GB's are blind here and pop the vettes engine. it is dead in space, but still a gun platform. let the GB's drift away,

part C hit each of the turrets crawl form beneath the vette and hit the side guns first (6 and 7), then the top guns..3,2,1,0,4 in that order, you can hit them while stayingjust inside thier blind spot. nail the reactor and bridge, KAPOW..go finish up the GB's so the spawn isn't borked for the next guy

Option 2..same as option 1, but change part B to this

come in below each GB, target its engines, then when its dead, sit beneath it in its blind spot and pummel it into oblivion, repeat for GB 2

go after vette engines...finish as per part c

Did it as Option 2 yesterday morning in my Rhykzerk....easy

Thats why you take out turret 5 before the gunboats.

Another tip for Privateers...

Imediately after taking out gun 5 or the fighter screen (whichever you chose to undertake first), hit your IFF Scrambler. Then you'll be able to get into position or recharge your shields in safety.

Personally, I go for gun 5 on the corvette first, and immediately hit IFF scramble.... otherwise, the fighter screen and gunboats may penetrate your shields and armor on your booster ride to get out of range of the corvette and gunboats.

Works very well, I soloed the Rebel Vette last night, it was easy, Till I accidantally clipped one of the gunboats, but I disabled the vette before then, so they kept on going, it was exciting for me,lol.
