Hi All,
I was just wondering what RE really does for you.. I read it takes the best attribute from each one.. but does it also give a little extra depending on the level? I have looted hundreds of parts but when I asked some shipwrights if it was worth doing, No one said they had done it. SO I never really got any good info. But I see people on the forums talk about their REed parts all the time now.
Can anyone give me an example of how it helped your components? I don't mind saving up and matching parts for RE if it does something useful.
Thanks all,

the first component you place into the tool is the one modified. When you RE it every stat on that component is given a bonus. I dont know the % scale but the higher the RE level the higher the % bonus.
REing is great cuz you can turn a really good component into an even better one.

Yes it take the style (color of shots, style of booster etc) from the first part, then takes the best stat in each catagory AND adds a percentage depending on level to them.
Is very very worthwhile...
A few RE's gems?
Lvl 6 Capacitor 1100 energy 45 recharge
Lvl 10 Engine 96+ speed 80+ YPR
Lvl 8 engine 94 speed 78+ YPR
and the list could go on forever

The biggest advantage of RE'd gear is mass. It works as people described above, but when RE'ing its best ot make absolutely sure you have a low mass version of the part. Let's take a typical example of the Level 6 reward engine you get. It has a mass of 13k. Great engine, but thats pretty heavy. If you collect L6 engines, then you watch for good PYR and mass numbers, and after RE most of them come out between 9-10k thats a lot of savings. The higher the level of the part, the wider the range of masses that drop too. I often RE the 31k reward shield down to a manageable 24k.
A great RE item is also guns. I'm a big fan of RE'd level6 guns. They typicall come out about 2500 max dmg, .67vs armor and shields, and a mass of about 10k. Different guns have a variety of different good stats, so RE is a great way to make something truly choice.
Collecting parts for RE is also a great source of fun for my personal game. Nothing like the joy/frustration of hunting that last Level 9 part for something.

Do the parts just have to be the same Level? Say 6 Level 6 engines. or do all 6 Engines have to have the exact same name as well?
Thanks again for the info guys,

Just the same RE level. Sometimes you run across things that have a different level and RE level, these can make some super nice parts
I looted five or six level 7 droid interface that had a RE level of 3 so I mixed the super fast level 7 with some super light level 3's....you get teh picture

Thanks again for the info guys,
thay have to be:
- All the same RE level (can be different then lvl, not usually but once in a while)
- All the same type (engine, cap, droid int, etc)
And as the poster above says, there is a definate art to getting the best out of your RE'd stuff. Little things to look for like Military grade droid Inter usually have lower mass at same level, colors of guns and so much more.

Thats awesome, I was under the impression that all the parts had to have the same name as well as level.. Thats why i didn't think it was worth much since most parts of the same name, usually have similar attributes.
Thanks again everyone, I appreciate the help.

The best part of being a pilot after master is getting better and better parts to RE for your ships.

my favorite RE creations:
level 8 gun: 25k mass, 3.8k max damage, 13 energy per shot
level 6 engine: 75 speed, 70/70/70 Y/P/R, 9k mass
level 6 capacitor: 1000 energy, 47 recharge, 8k mass

I like the idea of trying to pack in enough guns to make between 10 - 12k damage (before mods of course).
In my krayt I have (depending on loads) 2 RE'd Lvl 10's and the reward Lvl 8 borstel for like 12K+ with .8 vs both on the Lvl 10's

Level 2 Capacitor, 1155 Energy, 40 recharge. Not the highest recharge out there, but for 1700 mass it does a more than adequate job.

I would have to say RE'ing is a must for everyone once the parts are available. As is said above it makes the mass smaller on items aswell as power usage etc etc.
Depending on the RE lvl of the item depends on the final % bonus to RE'ing you get. I think lvl 9 - 10 items are about 6% or 8% I can't remember which.
