I used to love the Dunelizard, but I've grown pretty disenchanted with them. They've got a fairly large profile and you have to drop your speed to the 55-65% range to get your best handling. Granted, 85K mass is a lot, but what do you do with a light/medium fighter like this? I haven't PVPed in one in a long time, but I flew one all the way through RSF when I mastered that a couple weeks ago, and the whole time I was thinking how compromised a PVP ship it would make.

Ya thats what im wondering, is it really really bad?

Looking at the FAQ, a dune has the spdx modifer of an Xwing with its foils locked (0.95). Now the xwing if i remember right, corners at about 65% throttle as well. So assuming the corner velocity of a dune is 65% throttle (as opposed to a yucky 55% throttle) we could say it's combat speed is about on par with a Sfoil locked xwing.

Is this bad? Well its obviously (0.5) less than a 1.0 Spdx modded T/I , T/A or Awing. Again if i remember right, it boils down to roughly 100 to 200 less speed while in flight.

I think that's workable. I.. *think*... im not sure. It would be nice if someone here had the voice of experience in PvP.

What is really glaring is the profile. Style 2 dunelizard is out of the question, but anyone really compare style 1's?

Maybe what i need to do is get some people to line up in space for a screenshot so we can compare ship sizes. (man that sounds bad )

Well, the fact no one seems to have extensive experience in one might be telling you something.

I've been wanting to do a silhouette lineup for a long time. I've fought a few style 1s in PVP and they were roughly similar to an X-Wing in size, maybe a little more compact. Would be nice to have a clearer idea on relative ship sizes, though.

Ive actually done this.

I was privateer for a while. Mainly to get my level 8 reward engine. On paper the dunelizard looks like a great pvp ship. Great turn speed, good top speed, large mass for a light fighter. There are two problems with it though.

1: Its cockpit is nearly as big as an entire A-wing. Its a whopper. Its larger than an X-wing. But the X-wing has a very thin profile. The dunelizard has the profile of an egg. So its very easy to score hits on it in pvp. Even in pve I noticed a lot more was hitting me than I was used to.

2: It slides quite badly. If you fit a good level8 engine in there and do a 180 as fast as you can. You actually end up flying backwards temporarily. This is bad in pvp because it means you are not changing direction as quickly as you perhaps think you are. And as we all know a pilot flying straight is a dead pilot.

If they made the dunelizard smaller it would be a good pvp ship. When I flew it I absolutely loved the look of it. Shame about its size. If you compare it to an A-wing or Tie advanced which are only slightly lower mass, you wonder what the dunelizard is full of. Maybe it is 90 percent airbag...

I love my Duneliz. When I started as a Corsec Pilot, I got addicted to mass using the Rihkzyrk and stayed with an X-Wing while giving the Rebellion a shot. But then I went Imp.... The Inquisition trained me how to get the most out of a low mass ship and I've never been the same. Now I'm back as a Freelance Pilot (through the Smugglers this time) and have used the Duneliz almost exclusively (a Krayt and my lovely YT for group flights).

The Freelance ships definately seem to have larger profiles than the standard PvP fare of A-Wings and TIE variants. The only plus side to the size mismatch against an Advanced or A-Wing is that additional mass. It's a lot harder to load up some of the higher level RE'd Reward items in an A-Wing than it is in a Duneliz. I've even toyed with a way to strap a single tier 10 super-cannon into a Duneliz and build the rest of the ship around it.

I'm not the best PvP pilot, but I think I can hold my own in mose situations and I have nothing against the Duneliz that I don't have against the entire line of large profile Freelance ships.

Im bored on bria, im thinking about going mercnary, going CorSec, and just flip flop factions every other day. Go Kill rebs or imps , but that leaves me with the dunlizard as my main PvP ship.

YPR wise its on par with an advanced but speed and size wise i can't quite put my finger on it to gauge it in comparision to other ships in Pv. I dont think ive ever seen an overt privateer in a dunelizard on bria. Always krayts and Rhyxirks.

i pvp in my dunelizard, its decent, but i miss my intercepter pvp wise. The second gun and extra mass make up for some of its shortfalls.
