Why do our weapons not converge on each other at a certain point in space? In X-Wing Alliance they had weapon convergance, and it was automatic. Why don't we have that?

Wow, been awhile since we've seen THIS topic. lol.
You know, lack of convergence is acutally an advantage?
Just FYI.... xwing gun config
1a - 2a
2b - 1b
Each gun spits out two bolts. If any one of those bolts hit, you do full damage for that gun. Toss in the 3rd gun for an xwing, and what you have is a flying shotgun.

so if we can connect with say, all 4 of the interceptor bolts, we do 4x damage of that gun?

Aye that's how it works ... besides if they did have "convergence" you'd hear a ceasless whining about those vessels having "auto-aim"!

No.
If you have , after math, say a 2000 damage gun, any 1 bolt hits, you do 2000 damage. If all 4 bolts hit, you still do 2000 damage. Thats because the T/I only has 1 gun, its unique in that the one gun fires 4 bolts.
T/I
1A - 1B
1C - 1D
1 gun, 4 bolts.
Contrast this to the Xwing that has 2 guns that you'll norally see equiped.
Gun1 lets say it does 2000 damage
Gun2: again, 2K damage as an example
bolt pattern is thus:
1a - 2a
2b - 1b
If bolt 1A hits, you do 2000 damage
If bolts 1A and 2B hits, you do 2000 damage X 2 guns = 4000 damage
if bolts 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B hit, you still do 2000 damage X 2 guns = 4000 damage.
edit:
Think ill catch this in the bud. The T/I is not gimp.
yes true the T/I has only 1 gun, but its chances of hitting with that 1 gun are much greater then say, a tie with a standard chin mounted gun. But more than that, it makes it easier to run EO4 in a T/I. The interceptor is a really good ship for PvP, and i acutally prefered the T/I over the Tie advanced that has 2 guns in PvP because of the interceptors bolt pattern and shot spread.

They DO have autoaim, or well they are supposed to. Watch vader shoot the X-wings in the trench he doesn't turn yet his shots track. A-wings are supposed to be able to shoot up to 30 degrees off center. Also why else does he have to wait for a lock before firing his lasers, because they are articulated. No idea why this is not in game. I think a lot more people would fly and fight in space, it's like a noob helper. Play starlancer most of those ships have Autoaim to some extent, Thought playing only those ships can ruin you when you go back to some that don't have that capability.
