Thread: Loot Nerf.
On my server, the rate of return for shipwrights is 7cpu at the low end and 10cpu on average and I've spent at least 40M credits on starship chassis', parts, and provisions. While I agree that the SW's need some help with factories; making crafted items completely better than all but the "best of the best" makes it impossible for new pilots or poor pilots to get into space. There are few enough people flying on my server these days without putting more obsticles in the way. A pilot can't make it on cash and parts from space loot drops alone - loot drops for space are cut way back now. I seldom come in with more than 6-10 items now after an evening of helping other folks with their tier 4 and master missions. Turning these few parts into trash is going to make it much harder to get into space and be competitive against anyone with cash.
And loot's the viable now will remain viable. Just you have the option to trot over to a shipwright and get a replacement part that's as good.

well right now loot blows pretty hard anyway, sosell those 6-10 worthless loot items you get to the chassis dealer for about 50k, plus maybe another 25k from credit chips, and go buy a something from a sw once they make crafted parts good.
i started this game as a pilot and financed my piloting by hunting in space. you can make ALOT of cash in space.
I'll be interested to see how these turn out. As a pilot and shipwright, I've always thought there should be a strong balance where crafted items beat loot, but RE'd loot beats crafted stuff. (And ideally there might be some sort of looted enhancers similar to krayt tissues and the like to make for really great crafted stuff, but that's another topic entirely.) That setup keeps shipwrights an integral part of the space game while providing a theoretically infinite (if narrow and occasionally tiresome) amount of loot-based content for pilots.
If crafted capacitors and engines are brought up to this level, I'd see it as a big positive for shipwrights and pilots alike. Some pilots find crafted engines so unresponsive they'll use un-RE'd loot over them rather than deal with such ugly PYR, but others depend on them until they can RE themselves a nice engine. Boost those numbers up, and suddenly a lot of pilots can fly better while expanding the market for shipwrights. Win/win.

The PYR boost didn't come with this patch. DP hadn't added that in before the current engine/cap improvements were set for live. Also, I haven't seen anything about loot being nerfed, just that a couple of shipwright items might finally be made useful.

Since the CU i have been selling everything fast. I sell an RE'd lvl 7 weapon (not even a reward one) for 1 M, and I'm almost sold out. My prices are high, but there is real demand out there and if you sell to low, you are just selling good equipment to people who don't understand their value or how to configure them. When it comes to crafted equpment, I craft whatever makes sense, reactors, some shields, some boosters, engines don't make sense yet, cept maybe in POB ships. With loot appearing serously nerfed at this point. I would hold fast to any RE'd loot.

I have been trying and trying to get people into space the last month or so, and since rotw went live and the new ships were added I saw a large increase. Personally I think its because there is a shortage of good shipwrights on my server. When i go into compeitors shops they lack a good stock of components and no one cept me has any RE'd equipment worth a darn
. I really think they need to go ahead and add factory support for shipwrights, its just to hard to work a fulltime job in RL during the week and maintain any quality stock in your shop. Much less get some flight time in, which is why I do it
. I'm trying to get some more targets up in DS for me to shoot
.

Maybe I need to do that mission then, all the drops in DS changed, I get tons of little things now I used to only get high lvl loot, I almost have to completly focus on gunboats to get good drops. A lvl 10 gun drop every mission? Thats insane to me I might see 1 in 500 drops from DS.
