Message title says it. If I am master privateer, why can't I do all the RSF and Smuggler Alliance missions to become their ace too without dropping my existing skills ? I really want to master all 3 squadrons but the fact that I have to drop all my skills makes in bad idea.

it be the same reason why you can't master pistol and carbine after you finished rifleman. they all use guns, same aim skills and all but not the same pro.
it just be giving you to quick badges and thats its.
besides. everytime you master a pilot pro, you get xp twice as fast in the next one. its even faster to master the second, the third, and ect.

I don't think it works the way you say it. You get 2X the XP after you mastered once and that is it. And if I want to master privateer all over again its essentially the same skill and same ships so its different from pistols/carabines.

actually, you get a pilot bonus of equal xp for each time you have mastered- if you've mastered once, you get the normal xp and the same amount again as a pilot bonus. mastered twice normal xp plus a bonus of twice the xp again. etc etc. it works, i'm on my fourth mastery now.
besides which, it's kinda fun working up the ranks. go find a tier 2 in your master ship and shoot it. not much of a challenge, is it? do you really think you'd have much fun climbing up the ranks of another squadron doing escort missions where you can one shot the enemy and then sit there for a minute until more come along? i know i wouldn't.
what i would like to see is an ability to cross train once you have mastered- for example, rebels and neutrals could join a covert squadron that uses stolen imp ships a la rotj, and vice versa. some post-master content with genuinely hard missions would be a real treat.
