Thread: JTL Suggestions and Improvement

I present, in several parts, suggestions for content and recommendations for improvement of the JTL Space Expansion that would provide the User more than just a means to obtain a title, for instance, “Master Pilot”, or to travel direct bypassing the in-game Shuttle and Star Port system.

Loot: I applaud the SWG Development team for not only making space loot a viable option, as compared to crafted Shipwright components, but also a means to acquire in-game credits easier ever since the ground-based mission system was disrupted by requiring a large group to hunt together even though the creature mobs have themselves become no more difficult and then dividing the mission payout. This, in effect, eliminated ground-based missions as an effective means to earn credits and thus the income of a large majority of the server population and, hence, the crafter’s pocket.

A suggestion to enable the User to obtain more loot while not impacting the Character’s inventory and container would be to add a cargo container, crafted by Shipwrights and attached to a Character’s ship via the terminal.

Pilot Prestige: At present what is the significance of pilot prestige? One of my characters has over four million pilot prestige points that can’t be rewarded in any way presently I am aware of.

A suggestion is allow Master Pilots the ability to exchange prestige points for either factional items, space-based so as not to offset the present GCW system, space items such as unique ship components, or possibly a ranking within an in-game pilot association or guild such as the Freelance PA whereby a certain ranking makes available certain in-game perks specific only to the applicable system the pilots affiliation is with. Also, rather then store an enormous amount of prestige (and I have been told by some they have enormous amounts in the tens of millions) why not allow the player to trade it in at the Village?

These perks can also include no loss of chassis hit-points upon repair at a Space station, higher tier level ships and variety to aid when called upon; A Master Pilot can only call Tier 1 ships at the highest level of Pirate Trap and I would think it should be commensurate with skill level.

Ships & Profession: I am disappointed that Freelance Pilots, in essence either Smugglers or Security Agents, are not provided a means to utilize the profession as intended. Imperial and Alliance Ace Pilots have a clear focus and direction, the GCW: Find the opposing faction Players or NPCs in space and fire away. But even they do not have the content-driven system making it exciting to be an Imperial or alliance Ace. There is quite an investment of time and credits to Master each respective profession. Possibly systemic of the ground game but upon reaching a master level there are no content unlocks, no rewards, no incentives, nothing in return for achievement. Every player, by merit of time since character creation or will have to wait until they qualify, has access to the default multiplayer ship. Thus, beyond that why should a player press toward Master? For the Master level ship, no, not in my opinion.

Obtaining master level and access to the YT-1300, the Imperial Decimator, the Firespray, is quite an accomplishment but provides no more then the ability to operate advanced versions of the default multiplayer ship. I do no more with the YT-1300 on my Master Pilot character then I do with my multiplayer ship save the use of the weapons that add only one more dimension. It is the same with the Decimator and the Firespray is an utter disappointment since it is not a multiplayer ship, has good performance but the weapons are not authentic for a ship that requires a huge investment of time and loot to obtain. There is no cargo area and it is certainly nothing more than an advanced version of some Freelance ship.

A Suggestion for Freelance Pilots is allow the Smuggler’s Alliance to participate in smuggling activity with their ships. Introduce contraband searches for ships, rewards for successfully evading Imperial patrols, allow players to employ Freelance Pilots at Star-ports in smuggling activities and a respective docking system in space where Smugglers can obtain goods for transport. If a system punishing players for carrying spice and other illegal goods into space, then it rewards Smugglers for doing their job. Security agents can patrol sectors, protect planets, and even faction wise assist in the GCW; Naboo is Imperial, Corellia is Rebel for instance.

Space: On Tatooine I look overhead and am reminded of the Imperial Crackdown and presence of the Empire. In space, I can travel for some time and never encounter the Empire. That should not be so. In my opinion, Imperial Star Destroyers should not be hiding away in Deep Space.

There are many more suggestions and ideas for content that could fill a volume of encyclopedias but it is up to the content developers to implement the useful and the beneficial. As of now space is EXTREMELY BORING upon reaching Master level. There are very limited options in space and it is not attractive anymore other than for storing items on Capital and Multiplayer ships, looting for credits, and transportation. Those are the ONLY options available to a Master Pilot. Please consider the impact of these few options on the future of JTL.

I've been a master pilot since Nov, I'd say that the most rewarding part in space is helping other players reach master and hunting for good RE parts to improve my already b1tching xwing.

I have to agree that more content, more ships, more space zones are all needed. But for the meantime i happy to help others prepare for this.

I agree that Imperial patrols on space lanes (a line from the hyperpoint to the station) would be cool.

I disagree that people who are not ground Smugglers should be allowed access to smuggling goods, no matter who they fly for. There are plenty of other roles to fill within the SA, Enforcer, Commerce Marauder, even legitimate courier runs that cover for true smuggling. Never ever would I approve of allowing anyone but a Smuggler to smuggle.
