Thread: Vette Targeting Aspects

Cruising around space yesterday in my Oppressor, trying to find anything to kill (other than the lvl 5 droid fighters, cuz they seem to have my #); after admiring the Rebel Space station but defering engagement after counting her guns, I went the Kessel and the Rebel Vette was spawned. Had lotsa help when I did my Master mission, so this was my first solo try.

Did the bombstrike and that eliminated most of her guns then blasted away at her shields, engine...and as I was getting to the reactor and bridge I noticed that my blasters were having very little, if any effect; in fact it seemed more effective to target the "ship" rather than a component. Almost got completely fustrated, but let loose the proton torpedoes and they were extremely effective (component targeted). And did finally get the big bang.

Is there an ideal aspect to target the components? Should you just target the "ship" when you're doing the vette? And on a completely different note - is there a way to turn off that lighting in space? It's spectacular and all - but get's annoying and seems to contribute to graphics lag.

Thanks for any help - and if you ever see me in Kessel, don't hesitate to vaporize me

Head back out with the same load out and droid programs running. Try shooting some low level NPCs and see what happens, if it seems like you aren't doing enough damage (in an oppressor with 2 level 7 guns you should 1 or 2 shot them) hit control V and look next to your weapons, if they have little icons (I forget the exact one) they are not getting enough power to run 100%, and will do less damage. They do have enough power to run though, this perplexed me for quite a while.

As for the Vette, I'm 90% sure you have to do it in order, shileds, engine, reactor, bridge. I've never tried taking it out just shooting at it though.

doh.. that explains alot =P

me and someone else was trying to do the vette by ourselves in his Rixh and my X-Wing.. taking out the escorts were a piece of cake.. then we go put our nose against the exhaust and open fired on it.. the entire way from spawn to despawn, the condition of the vette stayed at 100%.. wth did we do wrong?

we had nothing targetted since the vette could not reach us where we were, so we figured there was no need to cripple it first

i think he actually wants to know where to attack them from

shields, you have to come pretty much in from ahead or straight to one side, or preferrably a mixture of the two, there is one shield gen on either side of the vette.

engines, come from behind

reactor, you need to shoot from directly above thevette or you will do no damage at all to it (the reactor is located between 2 of the engine housings)

bridge, you need to position your self directly infront of the vette and shoot the front of it

and then boom, you dont need uber weapons to take out the subsytems at all.

Always take out turret 5 first, it is the only one that covers the bottom hemishpere of the vette. Once this one is out you can do the shields by doing runs at the front from slightly below, and the engines from behind and slightly below. The reactor is tricky, but if you are imp you can call a BS and they will occupy the guns long enough that you can get the reactor, then just do the bridge from low front again. I do 3-5 vettes a night in deepspace, and this hasn't falied me yet. When you attack the reactor you have to be almost exactly above it, so get your shields recharged and make boosted passes at it giving yourself lots of distance to line up. It only takes like 3 or 4 shots with two level 7 guns, so you should be able to do it in a pass or two.

sumner, I tried it your way, and man it works!!! actually I used my Rhyx and brought two friends, another Rhyx and an Imp, so that way we could use the bomber strike method on it. I took the reactor out in one pass.... I have three lvl 7 guns amrmed, shields charged to max, brand new armor. I start way out, lining myself up for the flyby... I get about 1k out, and prepare myself for boost. As I pass by doing warp speed it seems (lol) I open up with three cert 7 rapid fire advanced green lasers... these things are spitting out rounds faster than I can blink, and the reactor goes poof, then we finish off the vette... I hope its this easy to do when it comes time for my master mission.

Another thing I noticed with the Corvette is that it likes to roll so that any "active" guns are pointing at you. In some ways this makes it easy on you to take them out since you do not have to fly around it trying to figure out where to shoot.I ground my Tie Advanced and it's components to a nub taking out the Corvette last night, but got lucky when at VT game into the area to help out his guild member. The corvette I was workingon only had one active gun that I could not find, and I had both shields down. Was coming back to work on everything else, but got lucky to see these guys just pounding on it. I had not taken out the escorts as my condition was so low I was going down in a few volleys even using Cap to Shield IV. I am sure with more practice I would be able to do it with relative ease. Now I just have to make enough money to get my first VT! I have some sweet high mass stuff I have been keeping around to kit it out.

The Corvettes in Kessel don't turn to face players. At predetermined points, though, they go into a wild flail as they try to make a simple 90 degree yaw turn. If you can predict those points then you can be safely away as it goes insane trying to turn.

The turret positions, as best I can remember:

#0 Top Middle Square- Forward Starboard (There are 4 smaller turrets on bubbles)

#1 Top Middle Square - Forward Port

#2 Top Middle Square - Aft Port

#3 Top Middle Square - Aft Starboard (I could be mistaken on placement, but you get the idea, I hope)

#4 Top Forward (In front of the four in a square)

#5 Bottom Forward (mirror of 4; only one covering the bottom, as noted earlier)

#6Starboard Aft

#7Port Aft (I might have these reversed, but they are the side guns near the back)

Don't bother shooting at the corvette to try to wear down its shield. The only way to harm it is to blow up the systems, which are located on places around the ship and are targetable in order, as noted.

This Link will help also, This shows you where each target component is on the Vette.

http://www.image-dump.com/view.php?m=2&x=23859

and Gun #5 is below the Vette.

This should help some.

This is actually funny to watch - I just imagine what is going on with the crew as the thing spasms like its having a seizure...
