Name pretty much says it all, tried this a while back with about 5 people, and while we didn't get killed much, we had only just started to kill the gunships by the time the vette jumped out.

If you can help me, please send an email or tell to Shiskahoogen, thank you.

First you need more than 5 people.
10-15 is a nice number.

Wait 2 kms or so from the corvette spawnpoint (7448, 7524, 7555). Once it spawns send in a fast fighter, let it get aggro of the TIEs (as privateer you might be required to shoot at one of them first) and pull them back to the waiting other ships and kill all the fighters. Repeat if any fighters remain.

Then group up, and go after one gunship first. Fly towards it, everyone fires it guns, fly past, ships with turrets continue to shoot. Stop at about 1km. Form up again, and next wave. etc etc...
Repeat with second gunship

Important here is that you try to come in all at once, that way the gunships have to spread their firepower and most likely everyones shield will hold.
If everyone goes in there alone and unorganised the gunships can pick you off one by one and thats not good. Might take a minute longer that way perhaps, but if done right noone dies.

You can use the same tactic on the corvette then till all the gunturrets are down, or just hope you have the turrets killed fast enough.

Once the engines of the corvette are destroyed wait for everyone to come back (especially the ones that actually need the mission ), and blow it up.

That way we destroyed the corvette in about 20 minutes yesterday and i think we only had very few dead people, most didn't die once during the attack on the corvette, and 5 people made Master

this is just a nice theory and might fail because of the time limit, though after watching a somewhat scary guy taking out tier 5 gunboats for fun i wouldnt be surprised to see someone solo the corvette.

gunboats are easy, if you can keep just the right distance and attack from behind. as they dont ever seem to care about turning and just rely on their turrets you need to get close enough to fire your guns but not close enough for it to shoot back. 550 is the magic number, a little less is ok too, but around 530 i would REALLY start praying. i feel like some guns have different ranges and only one of mine seems to hit at this distance, but its making it easy to take it out without too much danger (if of course you happen to get a bit too close its usually bye bye for your front armor).

with the corvette you additionally need to stay exactly behind it (the oh so familiar blind spot we all know since the days of x-wing is still there). last time we tried it however the vette seemed to be invulnerable from behind (bug? or a designer thinking "oh no, it could be done solo, we cant have that"?). thinking about it, we spent most of the time dying and then wasting an eternity shooting at its engine without doing any harm while only one attacked a little from the side and was just about destroying the last turret when the damn thing jumped.

oh.. never underestimate scrambling. if you happen to end up being hammered by both gunboats the corvette because you slipped or the suddenly turned it's a life saver and gets you more than enough time to get back into a safe position behind them.

Corvette is easy to take out solo.
Shame you're on the wrong server.

If it's so easy, please tell us the secret.

Yes, it is easy, especially for privateers. You see the vette is not aggro to us, so what you do is this simply:

1) Line up at the front of the ship, check it out and make sure you are on the correct side (privateer luxury since it wont fire till we start something) and then use a spacebomb + regular fire to take out the primary sheild. /iffscramble

2) Quickly line up to take out the secondary sheild

3) If you have time after the secondary sheild, drop the engine. If not, die trying, and come back and drop the engine.

4) After the engine is down, do the same thing to the reactor. Make sure to hit it hard, then /iff, and either finish off the current component or go after the next.

5) Now that the reactor is down, take out the bridge. Piece of cake.

1) brib the devs with secret of the universe, or Mountain Dew

2) fly in and wait for spawn

3) Pray, make your sacrifices to SOE

4) Now ... fly in full throttle and ...

WAKE UP, you're Dreaming =-)

ok space bombs, I forgot about them,

and I also feel if you die you lose, I'm not one for kamakazi,

the solo thing isn't Keep throwing yourself at something till it breaks,

it's hit , last the fight, win,

that's a true solo fight

but yes as a priveteer we do have it easier, but what about the extra's around?, a vette is guarded isn't it?

Well, you can do what you want, but you wont even group the vette without dying without a massive number of people. Usually people are incredible cowards, afraid to die, and do absolutely NOTHING to help you when attacking the vette, because they wont get close enough to get hit more than one or 2 times.

If you want to attack the vette and dont want to have a single death, you should bring about 10-15 people at the least, and they all better know what they are doing, listen, and do it in a coordinated fashion.

Barring that miracle, I just told you how to get the job done. As far as the escort, well if get off a big strike vs the vette, die and come back, nothing is aggro to you as a privateer. Also, once the engines are down, the escort floats off.

So, spend 20 minutes and solo it, or wait a week to try to get a group who doesnt know what they are doing, your choice of course.

the escort float off?,, what?.. they leave the vette alone?

ok this I did not know, in that case, HAZAH, thanks

and I feel i should explain my comment

When i say no kamakazi for me, I mean, most people forget the RP in the MMORPG, I tend to play out my games more than most, like it's not a death, but I will have to get that ship repaired and towed, it's silly to most stupid

I'm a Roleplayer sorry

Actually you can do it with 5 people if all are on voice and you know what your doing. You will get singed and need repairs but it's do able.

We tried it this weekend 5 masters in Xwings. All vets of numerous vette missions as we help others level up pretty regularly and usually take out groups of 15 to 20 to do it.

Anyway we did this as an experiment to see if we as rebels could pull it off with so few in number. If you don't mess with the gunboats and of course pull the fighters out first you can do it.

As I said it's painfull. No one died but then again no one had much armor left either.

Get as many people as you can for this and at least tier 4. What the other posters said is pretty much dead on although we don't ever engage the gunboats we just worry about the vette itself and take very few if any losses.

Good luck.

I have tried to solo the vette, once the fast way (I lasted all of 3 minutes), but I did get both shields down. The second I took outall but 1gun, the entire escort and had 7% left on weapon 7, but ran out of time. I did my 3rd master with a friend in his decimator, he had a group of 4 with him and me in my Privateer ship. I took out escort, he took out guns. I went in and finished the job. He is a great pilot with a great crew
