For all you newer pilots out there (like myself) I'll tell you an awesome way to grind pilot. Find an ace of YOUR faction or a privateer ace and ask him if he is going to form a group to go into kessel inside his master pilot Multiperson ship. Then once there is a full crew of gunners, get on his ship and go afk. Everytime someone in your ship gets a kill, you get xp as well (even if you are not shooting). Or there is a 2nd way, if your ship sucks (like mine:smileytongue then be the gunner. You get about 2k xp per tier 5 kill ( you get a little more xp when you are gunning)It doesn't happen super quick either, but its better than flying around in a crappy ship taking 5 minutes to shoot down a tier 3 at a low level. Well, I hope this helps.

TIP: You get a little more xp when YOU are gunning, maybe like 1k more( whick can sometimes make a big difference ) Also, make sure you have a second gunner as well, it helps speed it up.

Or how about just fly? Doing duty missions as a new pilot is fun, you pick up a lot of loot, and all the XP you need.

Here, here! Marzuk... the duty missions are hard but your kills will give you some good stuff... i laff everytime i see/saw a master pilot say: "Now what???" in the forums... JTL wasn't designed to be easy and fast, that's why it doesn't take any skill points, and it isnt part of the jedi grind... so don't grind it, have fun playing it... /endlecture.

Dont forget the new privateer master ship is a 2 person fighter. With the turret having a full 360 deg field of fire. I'm currently saving up for mine, but I will happily take anyone out who wants to go init or my YT-1300.

Oh btw, if your mission has no 'docking' in it, it is great fun to get a crew to gether and do the mission in a mp ship. I just did it with a few friends and we had a ball. You can capture, send virus, etc.., but with mp's there is no docking.

This is not something that I feel is a good guide for anyone (noob or vet).....encouraging people to go afk while someone else does the work is the mentality of a slacker.....there is no benefit to you by being in a MP ship in the second hardest system in the game just so you can get lots of xp.

For one thing half of the branches in pilot are given to you free by just doing duty missions...even the 7.5 million xp you need for master is given free by doing just 2 missions.

The other thing is when a person like you becomes an ace (or if) then you really won't be an ace and shouldn't be allowed to wear the title. Why? because you sat in someones ship AFK gaining xp....you don't learn how to pilot any ships, you don't gain valuable experience that would give you the right to be called an ace pilot and you simply aren't playing the game and having fun...so what's the whole point of you even having an account with JTL?

It really bothers me when I see a master of "Any profession" and they are walking or flying around asking noob questions....just because you have the title master don't give you any respect nor does it helps your standing with people like myself who flew every mission solo to become a master (well besides the last 3 missions in which I couldn't have done without some help)....

Anyway, no matter what your standing is in this game, I would not respect any accomplishments you have and wouldn't want you on my team or have my back in any PVP situations....truthfully it's thinking and actions like yours that hurt this game.

My advice to you is to get off your friends coat tails, hop in your own ship "crappy or otherwise"....and fly your own missions....at least then you will get FULL xp, FULL flying experience, enough good loot to turn your "crappy" ship into a "super crappy" ship and most of all, you will gain the respect of all the veterans, noobs and master pilots for your accomplishments and probably will make a lot more friends than you need.

I really hate coming down on people in these forums...but this time it had to be done as you are trying to spread bad advice to noobs that might ruin their reps later in the game.

Just remember, short cuts to doing things is alright "SOMETIMES"....but when you make it a rule to do everything the short way or the lazy way....you are just dead wrong....period.

I find XP to be very easy to get.I seem to have the XP for a box before I have even done the mission to allow me to train it. It helps that I do quite a few "loot runs" in space.

I don't feel that JTL is something that need to be ground like a crafting profession. Like many things in life, the journey is more important than the destination.

go AFK, and in 5 min, be dumped at the nearest station,

unless your cat is sick or you are bathroom bound, there is no need to be AFK

Is this the mission where you have to bait the rebels into thinking you have some important data? If so, yes I did it solo. You have to kill all the fighter waves very quickly. I wiped out about half the rebel fleet before I learned that you had to kill the waves completely before the next one spawned. I advise a good flight computer and weapon overload. You'll want to take out your targets as quickly as possible.

<edit>Yes this is off topic. I'd be happy to discuss this with you in another thread as I hope this one quickly dies</edit>

I don't think its the one where you have to bait the rebels. Its the first misson he gives you on Endor ( so im 2/2/2/2) and you start out escorting an engineer transport.

Ahh...the first mission. It seems to go on forever and is exceptionally difficult, especially with the TIE/LN you're driving. I had some 900/900 shields loaded on my TIE and blasters hitting for about 1k damage. I also used a flight computer with weapon overload and shield adjustment rear. My typical engagement would have me approach the rebels, avoid their initial head-on pass and turn in behind. I'd hit one ship until one of the other ships in his wing got behind me and started to hit me. Because I had adjusted my shields to the rear, I was able to take this approach. Furthermore, disable the ships, don't destroy them outright. Yes, you will miss out on the loot, but you gain the XP and finish the mission.

I switched targets often, disabled them, and moved on. It took me between 4 and 6 attempts to get through this mission.

<edit>If you're on Kauri, I'll gladly help you with this mission.</edit>
