Thread: Does the level of npc determine the quality of loot?

Does anyone know if the level of npc you kill have an effect on the quality of the components you loot?
ie Does killing Tier 5 enemies give you greater chance of components with better stats?

Excuse the vague reply...but yes and no.
I sometimes pull up to level 5/6 items off of Tier 1 ships, and sometimes pull Level 1 crap off of Tier 4s.
I think there is a base chance to pull loot off of a ship, modified by it's tier. But not sure

From what i have seen the quality is really grab bag, the only thing i can see the tier effecting is the level of the loot. To be honest i had much better luck getting good capacitors/reactors when i was grinding pilot back in the first week JtL was released then i do now.
Although this is all hearsay and guessing, it is based on what i have seen. Hope that helps.

I've been fighting Rebel and Imperial Tier 5's in Kessel and the loot is nothing different and seems to drop a hell of a lot less than it did in the earlier levels. I have had a couple of nice bits drop though.

I think chances on getting higher lvl loots from higher lvl targets are better. Although you can loot for example lvl 10 comps from tier4 and lvl 1 from tier5 (unfortunately i realized that a few times in kessel already).

I've been bagging Level 3 Evil Tyrants in Dantooine and they yield loot over seemingly 50% of the time. The loot levels have been from 2 -10 with typicall alot of 6-7. In my last two runs into Kessel yesterday I scoredone Lvl2 Boosters and a Lvl 3capacitor on over 20+ kills. It's apparent that the value lies in taking ownLvl 3-4.

i looted my best piece ever the other night off a tier 3 , its a reactor with 25550ish(not sure of the exact figure) energy output and weighs a scant 28k, thats only 8k more than the one i WAS using.
