Ok have a question about a ships chasis, so far it has always seemed that my ships stay at 100% of the chasis. Is the only way that it ever goes down for ANY ship is from dying in Deep Space. Is the new ROTW ships or HEAVY ships any different, or is just the base fact of if you die in deep space. Correct me if i'm wrong in any of this.

also i think i read in another post that ships can't get less than 10 total hitpoints. Is that true, and does that only just basicallly effect how fast our ship dies once the enemy gets past all our other stuff.

My JSF went down 130 condition after a death on it's chassis. This worried me, the ship won't last very long at all now with onle 1300 condition left. I've shelved it until I know more about chassis and the JSF?

You shouldn't be losing chassis HP (or components, for that matter) for dying in Deep Space. In every other sector, though, you should be losing 10% of your repaired armor and HP for each death.

Chassis and components can't decay below 10 armor/10 HP, however, so don't worry too much about your Eta-2s or other quest ships. All low HP will mean on your chassis is, indeed, that you'll die a bit faster once your enemies have gotten past your shields and armor.

If components won't decay below 10 hp does that mean they are unusable with Overdrive programs as well?I hope not. If so then they basically would be useless.

Overload 4 programs do 18 points of damage, so with say 10 HP and 10 armor on an engine, you could hit EO4 and still have 2 HP left on it; you can still take damage, but decay only comes in when you've got more than 10 points of damage to armor or HP--and once your armor or HP drop to 10 HP max, they simply can't decay any further.

Now, I haven't messed around with components that beat up, but I'd wager that would cause some performance problems. It is possible, however, that they'd work fine.. right up until they took any more damage at all, at which point they'd be instantly disabled.

This is one of those things I've been meaning to check out for a long time, actually. Need to park my ship next to a space station and have a friend blast out my reactor till it's a glowing piece of slag, then see whether RO4 blows it out. If it still works fine, decay on your parts will be an annoyance, but not the kind of critical issue it could potentially be.

Once components get below 50% of their hitpoints they suffer a performance penalty. Running RO4 on a reactor with 10HP will actually lower power output. 36HP is the minimum required HP to run overload 4 programs

Do you know that when you're killed in 1 blast (for instance from the freedom station) you actually have your components damaged when you spawn outside of Deep Space?
