Thread: Question: LVL 6 Engine RE'ing Now or later?

Been out collecting my level 6 engines to reverse engineer. I pretty much have YPR at 67 plus, mass around 9100, and speed is of course 79 with my reward engine.
I am hesitant on whether to proceed with RE'ing this engine. All of the looted engines speed have been realatively low compared to the 79 speed my reward engine has. Is this as good as I can expect?
Also can I expect to see YPR's of level 6 looted engines to reach 70 if I hold out long enough?

I am pretty sure that PYR 67-68 is the highest I have ever heard of on a level 6 engine Pre-RE. Maybe someone else has. You could hold out a little longer on that mass. I have an 8800 masspre-RE level 6 I am saving to go with a prenerf Lev 6 Reward. I would say that if you can, wait it out a little longer. As far as speed goes... it would be extremely rare to loot a level 6 engine postnerf faster than 79.

in this case, you are re'ing for mass and ypr - you are unlikely to find an engine with better speed, so if you are happy with the ypr's youve got, i say go ahead. Ive still got the pre-nerf 92 speed lvl6 reward, and im just waiting to get an engine with a good pitch rate.

LOL it always seems that I get rolling on a profession after it gets nerfed. What would be the chance of finding someone to sell me one of these pre-nerf speed engines?If so, how manymillions would it cost doyou think?I bet if they have been a pilot this long they either re'ed it already or are saving it just like you. Guess i will have to prolly live with 79 RE'ed to 82.16.

Plenty of pilots on this board that prefer post-nerf over pre-nerf. With the speed closer to the YPR-stats you're able to get higher cornering speeds.

But can't you just throttle back to accomplish this and have the speed available when needed?

This is something I was wondering about lately... Are the YPR numbers absolute values, or just percentages of the max speed value?

no, if you throttle back lower than the chassis optimum turning throttle (about 85-87% for the A-wing i think..) you will not get the full turning rate. I would still prefer the higher speed though.

I looted a level 6 with 70+ on one of the YPR (roll, i think) stats not too long ago. They are extremely rare, but they are out there.

does anyone have a link to tomo's thread? i think he hit pretty darn close to max values on that lvl 6 (it was the prenerf lvl 6wasn't it?)

I just looted a lvl 6 engine with 71.9 pitch preRE.
You can get all YPR stats to go over 70 preRE but those are all uber loots, hell its hard to top 70 with a lvl 8.
Pitch seems to be most common in high stat atleast on lvl6 engies.But i would say that everything over68 isreally great on all three YPR values.
If itsa postnerf rewardengineall over66.5 is worth to RE.
These lvl 6 rewards arnt as valuable now,due to the Nym´s starmap quest, but foremost since all the new ships have such high mass.
