So I mastered pilot tonight, and of cause I goy my Y-8 up, and launched with a friend.
But I found had a problem.
I could not stop piloting and move around on the ship, to say decorate or do mining or se how the layout is or anything like that. And that meant I could not do any mining my self, or decorate the ship with a few items here and there,
Anything I am missing ?

now im not even close to master yet, but one of my guildies was saying that you cannot mine without being in pilots chair, meaning you need a friend to mine as you fly,

Well the pilot can fire weapon 2, which is the large cannon on the front left side of the ship. If you put your mining laser there you should be able to mine solo. However, in personal experience I can tell you this does nothing. The gun fires, you can see it, hear it, it impacts the asteroid - but the asteroid takes no damage. No matter how hard you hit it, or how often - it takes no damage (which you can monitor with /ex ) and no chunks break off of it. Also I've noticed that the capacitor does not drain when firing that weapon - but it does with the other weaponswhich may be part of the problem.
But so far I've only gone up solo in my Y-8. It could be that you need a group to be able to mine - although you don't actually need a group to fire the mining weapon.

Yeah, the z-axis thing is definately annoying. The darkness of the interior lighting (especially in the command center) means you pretty much have to buy extra lights to see around your cockpit.

If the captain leaves his chair, the ship will stop moving. For mining, this is a problem, but I don't see how it affects running around in the vessel. Been redecorating mine, and have no probs with it at all. (Apart from not being able to move items up and down).
And of course not being able to put other people on admin, which makes hiring a decorator impossible.

But how do I get out of the captains chair? I tried the /stand but it tells me I cannot stand while piloting. And there does not seem to be any command in Crtl+a, to stop piloting.

Thanks. Now I can at least walk around on my ship. It really does help a lot to be able to take a walk about on the ship.
Interesting that there are two operating chairs, in the front of the cockpit.

Pilots chair is on a raised platform. There are another two operating chairs at the very front of the cockpit.
Might Just be something to do with the way the ship is descried in starwars lore, and not actuarial have anything to do with mining.
