Hello. I've done the first couple of steps of the ROTW Flash quest to get the mining laser and cargo hold - i shoved them in my TIE Bomber, headed to corellian space, and inadvertently found the asteroid type i need for it. My problem is, I can't get the asteroids to break off any pieces or go into my hold. Not sure if it's relevant, but I'm isolating the mining laser (only using that weapon group). Another strange thing is that the mission in my datapad seems bugged - i open it from the datapad and it's totally blank. No quest info, nothing, just the 3 buttons on the bottom to close, abort mission, or activate waypoint. No waypoints activate when i try to, but I'm presuming that's because I can hit any asteroid.
Any insights as to why I'm not breaking anything off or getting anything in my hold?

Either try a different asteroid (there are usually two to four in the system), or just shoot the asteroid until it blows up...another will shortly spawn and you can then start mining off of it. Type /examine to see how many hitpoints the asteroid has left. Also, to check on your quest status, use the quest key on your toolbar instead of the datapad.

Yeah, I've had "stubborn" asteroids sometimes myself.... no amount of shooting (nearly 10 minutes once, just out of dumb curiousity) and no chunk broke off, and it didn't blow up either. If a large piece doesn't float off after a handful of shots just fly to a different asteroid... chances are it'll work then.

Flying off and leaving an asteroid, just leaves it for someone else. More polite to /examine the rock while shooting, make sure the hitpoints are dropping, and blow it up, then mine the replacement. Keep space flowing folks, chances are it will take you less time to blow up the rock than to travel anyway.
