does anybody know???

I got mine as part of the Y-8 quest along with a couple mining lasers, 3 cargo holds and the Y-8 itself. I have no idea if the tractor beam can be reproduced by a SW but I know the mining lasers and cargo holds can so it just stands to reason that they should be. Although, you may have to contact a SW directly to get one.

Continue doing the mineing quest. Be dilligent about reading and comprehending what the quest NPC tells you. Each step of the way the NPC tells you what the components are for and how to use the components.

BTW the player made tractor beems are bugged and do not work as of this posting.

Actually, the mining quest was broken recently and is also bugged and now can't be completed.

You can only progress until the mission to escort the Y-8 convoy or whatever. (not sure of the details, since the mission won't spawn a waypoint or progress).

So, at this point, you can only get 2 mining lasers, tractor beam and 2 cargo holds.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon.....

I know the damd quest is broken, I'm reminded of it every day allmost every time I launch, fly, mine , land with my Y-8. I feel as though I'm the only one with a Y-8 and know how to use it and everyone else wants one but can't because I have the only Y-8.

Here is how it is supposed to work if you only have the mineing laser and no tractor beem.

hit Large rock untill a chunk breaks off. Hit the chunk untill it shatters into smaller chunks. Destroy the small pieces to fill your cargo hold. Thats the basics but it gets deeper.

The large rock will get depleated. If all you have is the low level laser I recomend finding another rock. If you must or there are no other rocks that have what you need then you have to destroy the depleated rock by tying a rubber band around the trigger, aim at the edge of the rockand fixing a cup of coffee. Eventually the rock will poof and imediately spawn a fresh rock.

Tip to efficient laser only mineing. Move to within 50m-150m of the chunk. Match target speed (this is a key mapable command). When the chunk breaks you will be moveing at the same speed as the small chunks for EZ pickins.

How do i get a tractor beam?
