Portalized OBject. Any object that can be picked up and carried and entered by players. Usually used to refer to the Sorosuub, YT-1300, Nova and Decimator but houses, guildhalls, merchant tents and such are POB's too.

POB Ship =

Either way, it always refers to amultiplayer ship.

Multiplayer ship that players can walk around in, that is ... they're Master-level, the ones with turrets only.

POB = Player Owned Boat?

POB = Player Owned Base?

POB = People On Board?

Acronyms are worthless if the general population doesn't know what the letters stand for. POB what is that? I know it's supposed to be for Multi Player Ships but that would be MPS.

Portalized Object is the correct acronym, I think.. but I recall people (and maybe devs) referring to it as "passenger on board" also on the JTL beta forums.

Either way, it's:

VT-49 Decimator (Imperial)
YKL-37R Nova Courier (Rebel)
YT-1300 (freelance)
Y-8 Mining Ship

The two passenger ships (Aggressor, Y-wing, etc) aren't considered POB ships, since you can't walk around in them.

POB actually stands for Portalized Object as mentioned above.

A Portalized Object is a moving object that players can enter and interact with (ie like a house but not stationary). A house is not considered a POB because it is a stationary object, once it is placed it does not move unless you actually repack(destroy) the structure. A normal ship or Krayt/ywing etc... are not considered POB ships because you can not enter and interact with them. When you fly a ship you are not "inside" the ship you are simply flying the ship if that makes sense. With the YT1300, Decimator, Y-8, etc... you are literally inside an object that is moving through space, you have the ability to get up and move around inside this ship, access the cargo hold, heal yourself, dance, etc.... all can be done while inside the ship. This is what makes or defines a POB ship. For example if your inside of a Krayt or Ywing you can not dance or heal yourself, or get up and move around. This is how you know if you are in a POB ship or not. Even though you can have a passenger in the Krayt or Ywing that can man a turret, neither of you can get up and walk around the ship or do anything else, that is why it is NOT considered a POB ship.

I hope this helps clear up some of the confusion for what is considered a POB ship and what is not considered one.

This is the correct information, and "Passenger on Board" was a term used by a dev to help explain what POB was for those that didn't understand what portalized objects were. It was much easier for those people to understand what "passenger on board" meant instead of the devs trying to explain it once again lol. So the correct term is Portalized Object, but for those think it's easier you can also use "Passenger on Board" if that makes ya feel better lol. Just remember that it doesn't apply to aggressor, ywing, krayt etc... where you can have passengers but can't move around.

Are these even worth owning? I've read so many posts saying they're crap that I'd rather not spent the money (~600k on Valcyn) for something that would serve as a pilotable house when I can use my Luxury Yacht for that.

I think so. They're smaller internally than the Love Boats, but they're much cooler. The Nova and Decimator are great for military RP decorating, and the YT-1300 is just ratty enough to make a pirate/smuggler type proud. I've been able to go AFK in one for over 6 hours parked inside the dock at Naboo or Corellia without negative result, and the one night I tried Dantooine, someone's quest mission blew me half up.

I'm DYING to put weapons in a Y-8 and go hunting...

Oh, and the number one main reason a master POB is better than a yacht:Speed. That big bloated white hephalump is a pain in my ass, especially Tatooine, where the damned space station is 8km from the nearest system entry point...

With my current 100.9 speed engine, I've got 800+ speed, which is twice the best speed any Love Boat can do while boosting.
