If I were doing it, I'd set two requirements. First, you must have mastered one of each of the three factional squadrons. Second, you must have mastered all three of the squadrons for the faction you want a ship from. When you meet both of those, you may choose ONE ship to retain certification for no matter who you fly for. Thus, if you have done Inquisition, CorSec, and all three Rebel squadrons, you could choose to keep your X-wing or Nova. This sets extremely steep requirements on getting that ship, so we won't see fleets of Rebels flying TIE Fighters, but still allows for the random space junkie to keep her favorite ship despite going to another faction. And since you had to master one of each of the squadrons anyway, there is little concern about trivializing the content with a high-level ship, since you could do that yourself with a Heavy Variant starter ship if you wanted.

i'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this as an idea before, but my brother and i were talkin about the game one day and agreed that this could be an idea. in the star wars universe many good plots were able to jump in a ship model they'd never flown before and were able to figure out the controls and pilot the vessel well. currently in galaxies a master alliance or imperial pilot would not be able to pilot say the millenium falcon model or neutral fighter ships, or alliance to imperial or neutral or visvursa. for some role players i thought undercover missions would be interesting, but one side couldn't sneek in as the other. so what we thought could possibly work is if a master pilot from any faction could earn certification for ships of the other factions through prestigue points so many thousand or hundred thousand equals said ship cert. well, that's all just thought i'd throw the idea out and see what happens. thanks

Sounds like an interesting idea. What i was thinking was that they should make it so you could use ships from any other factions that you've gotten the badges for in the past, or even make it so after you'd mastered all 3 factions or mayb eall 9 squadrons there would be a way to get cert to fly other faction ships.
