I was dogfighting Commerce Raiders in the asteroid belt above tatooine last night. It was all tight turns, spirals, and barrel rolls round big rocks - with a lot of throttle control to boot. With all the Z-95's flying about and the odd one hitting a rock full on - I couldn't help thinking of Halyn, and a little smile crept across my face as I went after my opponents with a little more vigor.

Apologies to the alliance pilots though, as I was flying my heavy tie (Heavy Metal) for Storm Squadron on my 5th pilot prof. But have no fear my rebellious friends, I only side with the imperials to steal their toys - I will be back in my green and white corsec X-wing before you can say Corran Horn wannabe.

Well, the power's out here in Dickinson at the moment due to a blizzard. I'll be posting another section as soon as I can get in-game to check a few things there. I'm in the student center at the moment, as its one of the few places in town that still has power and Internet (running on a generator).

Hey I'm only a Rebel Mercenary...now if the Imps wanted me to come over to their side I may consider it...that is, if you offer lots of credits and a lifetimes worth of free spice.....the spice is the only reason I fly with Halyn anyway, he got me hooked

I have a feeling this is gonna be like the TV Show Lost. Youre not any closer to the truth on Episode 20 then you are on Episode 1

Keep up the good work you should post the whole story to a web site somewhere so it can be read by others.

You better not fall for that hussy Elle. Don't forget that you'll have an angry female bounty hunter wingwoman to deal with when you get back.

All shall be revealed in time. And c'mon, you know more now than you did at the very beginning of the story, don't you?

I'm not sure what I'll do with the story when I'm done. Maybe SOE will publish it on the SWG website. At any rate, I'd need to change a few things to make it suitable for a regular read--if I just copied and pasted everything together, the transitions would be non-existent. Like I said, it would need a bit more work.

Oh, c'mon...you think I'd fall for Elle? Besides, I seem to recall Hal giving his wingwoman a chance and she shot him down.

And now...on with the story. (It's a short post--really should've been part of the last post.)

"If you'll excuse me," Halyn interrupted the argument, rising to his feet. "I'd better go."

When the door to the turbolift had slid shut, Elle turned back to Argus. "What is going on with you?" she asked angrily. "He probably saved our lives and that freighter out there today, not to mention your own life, and you act like he's the scum of the galaxy."

"He is the scum of the galaxy," Argus retorted. "Do you have any idea who he is?"

"Apparently not," Snout said. "Why don't you explain it to us?"

Argus glared at the Rodian. "Why don't you ask him?"

"Because you're the one that's all hot and bothered," Brein said evenly. "Not him."

"He has a lot to answer for," Argus said stiffly. "But I'll let you drag it out of him."

Seven, the woman who had lost her wingman in the last battle, finally spoke up. "Five, if he hadn't intervened, you'd be dead, too. You could at least be a little grateful."

"Tarisa," Argus returned, "this is a little grateful. If he hadn't saved my life in the battle, I would've killed him when we got back to the station."

Tarisa snorted. "That's grateful, huh?" She arose quickly, gracefully. "Remind me never to owe you anything." Turning, she stomped out of the room and into the turbolift.

"That was wise," Elle commented dryly.

"Leave her alone," Snout spoke up quickly as Argus rose to follow her. "She just lost her wingman. Give her a bit of space."

Argus sighed and sat down again, rubbing his forehead wearily. "I guess I'll get some rest, then. I doubt things are going to slow down any time soon."

"Naw," Brein said. "That would get boring."

"Can't have that around here," Elle chimed in, still glaring a bit at Argus as the Zabrak lieutenant left the room. "No, someone can't let anything go."

Sheesh...didn't know it would be dangerous. You guys are worse than the addicts always harassing me about spice..."Hal, I need some booster blue", "Hal, I need some Pixie", "HAL! GIVE ME SOME $%^!@#% booster blue!"

Er...anyways. On with the story.

The turbolift was anything but fast as it slowly ascended towards the meeting rooms, repulsorlifts whining as the lift slowly pushed upwards against the station's artificial gravity. "So," A'Lerris said.

"So," Halyn echoed.

"How do you know Argus?"

"That was blunt," the Zabrak returned dryly.

"C'mon, Captain. You show up here from the Alliance, but there must be something more going on, or Argus wouldn't hate you so. Where do you know him from?"

Halyn shrugged.

"Dammit, Halyn, why can't you tell me?"

"It's..." the Rebel hesitated. "Personal," he finally finished.

"Personal." The security chief's voice was flat. "My lieutenant threw the first punch before you even said anything to him, and you want me to let it go with 'It's personal'?' She shook her head. "Lance, I need the truth. If you don't tell me, how am I supposed to trust you?" Again she shook her head. "Sithspawn, Lance. Right now I'm not sure you're even who you say you are."

"I'm Captain Halyn Lance, Sabre Squadron executive officer," Halyn recited flatly. "Rebel fleet, Corellian sector."

"That may be true," A'Lerris countered, "or it may not be. Either way, I still don't know who you are. You haven't told me a word about your past--where you came from, how you wound up with the Rebel fleet, why they sent you out here to negotiate for the high-grade ore the Alliance apparently wants, anything personal."

Halyn rubbed his cheek wearily. Why is this thing so kriffing slow? he wondered idly, stalling for time. "What do you want to know?" he asked irritably.

"How you know Argus. The same question I've been asking you since he took a swing at you."

The turbolift's repulsors finally slowed. Before the door could slide open, however, A'Lerris slammed her hand down on a button on the control panel, freezing all lift functions.

"The Council's waiting," Halyn said quietly.

"They can wait. I want an answer, Lance."

"Ask Argus," he said. "After all, isn't he your trusted lieutenant and second-in-command for security?"

A'Lerris sighed. "You two are both impossible. Why can't you just tell me?"

"Because it doesn't matter right now. I'm not here representing myself--I'm here as a member of the Rebel Alliance."

"But I can't trust that. I don't know for sure if you came from the Alliance."

Halyn finally turned and looked at her directly. "You already know I came from the Alliance. And you know why I'm here. And you know I'm not going to betray you. If I wanted to, I could've done it multiple times over and given the Hutts or the Valarians or whatever other kriffing criminal groups are running around out here this station and all your lives." He leaned closer. "I didn't."

A'Lerris finally cut her gaze away and released the button she'd been holding down. The door hissed open, and Halyn walked away and into the Council chamber without looking back.
