Let's see................
Krayt = BumbleBee ( With the paint job to match)
Bell-22 = Bad Bug
Tie Advanced = Mai Tie
Advanced X-wing = AAA Approved
A-Wing = IAMTHEJACKALOPE
I don't name deeds. If I did I would probably not get anything else done! LOL

All of mine follow conventions:
Voodoo One - TIE Adv - named after Iceman's plane in the final scene of Top Gun.
Speedbird One - first JSF build - named after the TRACON callsign for the Concorde.
Phoenix - next JSF build - immortal mythical bird and name of long-range air-to-air missile, which is a little ironic considering I don't USE missiles.
Sword of Damocles - M22-T Krayt - designed to let me know that while I might be making millions in space NOW, eventually it's all going to come crashing down on my head, since nothing this good can stay.

Belb: Lone Ranger
YT-1300: Distant Horizons
Krayt: Smaug
Recently picked up the Vaskai, but haven't gotten around to figuring a name for it yet.

Heh, these threads grow like fast.
>>Re: What did you name your ships?
Phonetically, by ship type, teir, and varient.
For example,
"Tango-1 Foxtrot"
TIE, Teir 1, Fighter
"Tango-2 Lima"
TIE, Teir 2, Linefighter
"Tango-3 Bravo"
TIE, Teir 3, Bomber
"Tango-4 Alpha"
TIE, Teir 4, Advanced
"Tango-5 Omega"
TIE, Teir 5, Oppressor.
So and and so forth. Being an imp pilot, its more incharacter i think. The only exception to that naming convention is my decimator, and Tie Interceptor. On the T/I ill use "banshee" denoting the wailing sound it makes when your wizzing around, or "Gamma" for Guard denoting the Royal Guard Tie.

Very fitting choice in names. And Donaldson's Gap series was amazing, wasn't it.

A-Wing:
BlackJack Mk XI [yup, I've had 11 clearly different versions of the same ship as it's evolved]
My other ships names are about to change.
