Quite simply, I, and many Rebel aces(For example, I do know Imps who agree with me, but the Rebs are more so.) are a tad annoyed that the YT-1300 is a privateer only ship, while the Firespray is open to all factions(Even Imps, which in SW terms, is insanely stupid.)
The ammount of Rebel smuggler NPCswe meet in YT's speaks for itself, I mean Solo was a merc(Pirvateer if you want.) first, but still had the YT as a Rebel, he wasn't forced to drop it lol.
I know this probally won't go anywhere, but I honestly feel the YT needs to be made availible to all factions, like the Firespray. Of course neutrals would want their own multi-ship, and that's totally fair, so perhaps give them a new ship, or one of the NPC ships we see?
I'm perhaps coming off as silly here, but I seriously hate the Rebel Multi Ship(Nova) it just doesn't suit me, and many of my Rebel friends, at all. We are Rebels, terrorists, rag-tags, etc etc, the YT is THAT kinda ship.
Sign if you agree, who knows, might get noticed hehe. /shrug

as soon as you come up with a Privateer-specific ship for Ace, go ahead. but the YT is for us as the YLK-37R Nova Courier is for you and the Decimator is for Imps. we each have our own specific master MP ships. and as you said, according to the SW story, han solo had his YT first when he was a merc (privateer). and it was a fast ship, which was why he kept it. its bad enough we cant get into DS, please dont take away our faction-specific MP ship and give it to everyone else.

fine give anyone a yt1300 and give us privateers the yt2400, yes that a smuggler ship and belongs to us privatters alone, lol
Actually , I think that if you are a master pilot , you should be able to fly any ship in the game, but that just me.
