This might actually be very fun provided we did not have some party crashers show up in JSF's.

How many people would be interested in doing a cross server PvP event?

Here is my basic idea:

We have all the pilots make new characters on some server and we all grab the starter ships (the free ones with all the equipment already in them). Then we go declare, and have a battle somewhere. Simple as that.

Everyone from every server can participate and we'd all be flying ships with the exact same stats, so it would be a true test of pilot skill.

The part that I'm getting stuck on here is finding a way for the pilots of the host server to get the starter ships. I can't seem to figure out a way to do this withou dropping your squad. The other option would to be to make an antry list and pick whatever server nobody signs up from.

Comments or suggestions?

only problem I see with this is a few griefers getting wind of the event, and showing up overt to mess with everyone... if you can get it scheduled into player events, you may be able to get some "guards" or an event helper to nuke these types that would disrupt the event.

Ah, but that's where the host comes in. A few select players from the [insert server here] will outfit their ships to take on JSFs and the like and "patrol" the area. If we could creat a seperate channel for this event, someone could just say "I see an univited JSF" and the partol will go and eliminate the threat.

I'd keep a lookout for those freelancers in heavy varients toting large capacitors and /epulse3 as well... unless you know the name a simple eject after the fact would make them look like they just got owned as well.

Sound like a fun idea. I'm good to go for this.

If it occurs on Flurry I can do guard duty.
As for epulse...just have intercept squads come at an interloper one or two at a time.
Better to have intercept squads on ventrilo or something like that...
If the interloper epulses, the rest can come in and finish him off...
Mind you I have epulse myself so it makes taking out interlopers a tad bit faster.

No, I'm not talking about zerging back into battle. I'm talking about making a new character on the server and being able to participate right away without grinding or finding equipment or doing missions. You guys can do whatever you want on your own (heck I'll come play too), but the event I'm talking about is straight from the trainer starter ships.

I tested it out earlier with someone from my server. Duels out in open space are pretty slow, but around obstacles (space station, asteroid field, etc) it's great fun in the starter ships. Even open space is going to be awesome when you have a squad to rely on.

exactly! just let ppl use mkII engines. theres nothing you can do to stop it anyway.

i just want to have fun too, but dogfighting in stock noobie ships is like drag racing in freight liners

I got to agree with er..S-1-..you know the rest here [why cant you have a normal name? ] for the most part but at the same time..I'll give anything a try. You can't knock it until you tried it [drugs and other narcotics..oh suicide too is exempt from that sentiment] but yeh...lets give it a whirl, this week maybe?

I think it could be fun but it'sgoing to feel like playing 'battleships' rather than 'doghfighting'esquestyle fun'. It will be fun though. I'd love to kick around and have a chat to some of you people off different servers too. It could be a pilot social event as much as a pvp event.

i would try dueling someone in a stock prototype ship if i were you to see just how mindnumbingly boring it is.

the idea of this event is for it to be a contest of skill, and there is no skill in involved with those ships, it comes down to who shoots first.

it would be very tactical though. if you had a good team that would work together, you could win decisively.

Nope, the idea is that you log on, grab the starter ship, and jump into the battle. No missions, no swapping equipment, just straight into fighting. It hardly matters how crappy the ships are if they are all the same.

but you cant just jump into battle, you have to hyper to a system with a factional station, fly there, declare, hyper to the battle sector, hopefully not get load killed. At newb ship flight times it will take a lot longer to get back into combat after getting vaped.

You know, I just might be able to talk a shipwright here on Tempest into making a bunch of MKII engines and shields all with the same stats, some MKI DI's and v1 flight comps or droids, I can make a bunch of EO3 chips. I'll find a person grinding shipwright to grind out a bunch of TIER 0 ships if I give them the resources. I think this would make it exciting while retaining the balance.

Whatever happened to this idea? I still think it'd be great fun to have a go.
