It's a lot easier for you to take care of the gunboats after the 'vette is dead and before they get to the endpoint and someone else has to kill them after they start spinning. The next 'Vette will not spawn unless these are taken care of.
OK... Maybe I have a problem here. I have done the corvette mission 20 times or so now, and everytime I disable the corvette, the gunboats hyper out. Kill the Corvette, and there are no gunboats. What the bleep are you people talking about. I have killed the corvette gone home, got more noobs, and come back, and killed the vette again.. The Vette is on a timed spawn 2 hours... what are you people talking about. And if you can kill the corvette without first getting rid of the fighter escort... I bow to you extreme master.... but if you disable the vette right.. the gunboats will enter hyperspace and be gone.

In your example the vette is not destroyed, thus the GBs jump, leaving the vette behind. In the cases that the issues are coming up, the vette is destroyed before the GBs jump...then they get all confused and dance around instead of jumping....thus resulting in the next spawn not showing up.
OK.. that makes sense now... sorry... I am on Ahazi a very light pilot server. I am usually doing this quest with only about 2 or 3 other pilots, and rarely someone with a tank to go in close to the vette (that person always seems to be me), so I am strictly a gun 5, shields, engine, reactor, run away and wait corvette killer. I usually drain the vette down to nothing but the bridge, and then send a call out to anyone in system to take a shot at the thing while it waits to die.

I've been in on two vette kills now where other people wandered by who also needed the vette. No worries, I'm social, so we group up. And both times one of the other supposed experts told the new Ace's to leave the gunboats and not worry about them.
"and not worry about them" was I am sured in the context of killing the 'vette itself. In other words, the rest of that instruction should read "....and not worry about them...for now. Later when we've gotten the 'vette destroyed and there is no panic about getting the master candidates their credit for passing the mission, we'll be responsible citizens and mop up the rest of the mess and remove the gunboats so the next candidates will be ready."
No... I am sure he meant exactly what he said.. as I say the same thing... disable the corvette, and clear the area. when the gunboats hyper out... kill the vette, and go get your helmet, and start fitting your new ship. If you disable the vette and wait, you avoid this whole stupid post of nonsense.
Personally, I kill the GBs after gun 5 to ensure that pilots waiting to master don't hyper until everything is killed.

1st thing i do when i head into Kessel is look and make sure the Reb Gunboats aren't hanging around, even though i am already master and do not need the Vette i'd hate to see a new up and coming pilot have his mission never begin because of a bug/lazyness on someone else part

OK... again.. explain... I can kill a gunboat as well as anybody, but if you disable the corvette... the gunboats hyperspace out of kessel. Now.. explain... You can kill a gunboat that isn't in the system? I went last night to just see for myself... disabled the corvette, watched the gunboats hyper, killed the vette, and then went to your despawn point... GUESS WHAT... NO GUNBOATS!!!
I can guarantee if I disabled the corvette for someone, people will show up and destroy it LONG before the gunboats have hypered, and not just people trying to get to Ace. Pilots will appear out of no where when the corvette is destroyed, and asking people to wait for someone to show up doesn't always work, much less asking them to wait until a few gunboats leave.
So guess what: your advice will just scew over those people who playon more pilot heavy servers. Destroy the gunboats, its the best advice you can give.
It kind of cheats them of their Ace badge anyhow if you just disable the vette. I know everytime I do it I'm usually a little disappointed when other folks show up - lessens the challenge. The vette may not be that hard anymore, but it's still a decent workout compared to other PVE targets.
And YOU may not have seen the gunboats get stuck, but I've seen it plenty of times.
