As much as I would love to trade in all those useless prestige points (or even pilot xp) for FS xp, it makes sense that you can't convert it since being a pilot costs you no skill points.
But man, it sure would be nice to have some other outlet for it, other than Deep Space.

No it shouldn't.
Mainly because people like myself would be Jedi 20 times over by nowbecause once you reacha certain aptitude at this piloting lark..you can grind a few mil xp in no time at all.Oh and also because Jedi shouldn't exist in this game apart from if they're named Yoda, Obi Wan 'I'm a corpse..well no.. one with the force' Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Yoda and a few other canon characters from this era.
Mock me for that viewpoint if you want.
Let me fetch my pitch fork...time to hunt those blackmagic users 
Oh...just so I can openly look like a hipocrit..I got to thank every Jedi who ever healed me after I landed after a bad session of pvp in the good old days. Jedi are good in this game in some respects
