The pipes coming out of the sides are one of the types of boosters. There are also two looks for the engine, depending on which type you load. It really is a sweet little ship. Stats as good as the Jedi Starfighter, but with more style IMHO.

type II seems to be VERY rare. i now have 2 of them. both were looted right when rotw went live, just before the quest was taken offline.

It reminds me of the old 1930s style of race planes. Specifically the Gee Bee.

I almost went with the black/yellow paint scheme, but ended up with red/white instead.

I'm 4433 right now in the Empire, and using it in combat. once I hit Ace, I'm going to strip the guns, and put in a big engine, boosters, reactor and E04 while stripping everything else out so I can race with it.

Maybe I'm weird, but mine's decked out in Purple&Green like the Mooninite's ship from ATHF.

And I named it Spacecotaz.

Just tried out this ship today after looting it afew weeks ago and I must say it really is one of the nicest looking ships. Very retro looking. Using the reward engine (and I'm assuming a booster as well) makes the ship look even better. My only graphical gripe with it so far is the upside down "fin" behind the cockpit.

I'm looking foward to using a paint kit with it (can you?) and perhaps a texture kit (can you?). I'm leaning towards a yellow or red with opposite flames (if possible). What would look really hot would have to be a flat black with a flame kit................../drool.

While I'm on the subject of customizing ships (and since the corr is around ) would it be possible to suggest a bit more customization with ships? When you use paint kits on some ships it only paints part of the ship. I'd rather it paint the entire ship the same color (ie the XWIng only paints certain patches). Also most colors are really quite bland looking and need to be brightened up a bit to give it a more polished look. Texture kits are nice but it would also be nice to have a bit more options (and personalized placement as well).

PS I just painted mine. As mentioned above the colors are a bit bland so I went with double black. Personally speaking i like the way black looks on the secondary color. The primary color gives the ship a "worn" look that really doesn't do this ship justice. Texture kit 2 seems to be the only one that worked (I'll try a different color combo and see if that works). It adds 3horizontal stripes (side view) per side(2 above and 1 below the cockpit) and 1 thicker vertical stripe (more like a square) just before the cockpit. Since I painted it before hand, the stripes defaulted to white (unsure if this can be colored).

One more request while I remember . Please, please, please change the cool piping from the engines to a very shiny chrome. Right now they are gold tinted.

If I everfigure out how to use image dump I'll post some screenies.
