Thread: Freelance Pilot Question
Hey, I'll Dis that old Y-Wing. It sucks!
Sure, some pilots love this old Bird, and can make it do some sweet tricks, but as the only upgrade option for Tiers I and II... no way! My own early experience with the Y-Wing has soured me to Any potential beauty that might lie in this thing. Feeling the need to leave the Z-95 due to lack of Mass, not knowing of the Heavy Versions, and then, not being able to afford one when I did learn of it, I bought a Y-Wing... OMFG. lol. I was already frustrated as it was. Where the low mass and the poor parts I had in the Head Hunter was like beating One's head on a Brick wall, Launching the Y into space was like... breaking through that wall and... plunging into a dark abyss filled only with the sound of your own screams the wind rushing by and the sudden appearance of a rugged, rocky mass, into which you barrel at full speed. About the only thing the Y-Wing ever did at full speed, and, without even the slightest hint of an over shoot.
Bad, Bad Y-Wing.

Dunelizard FTW!
Have to agree.
If you can't out turn some thing, you can't fly it. One of the best ships in the game. Every fighter has a sweet spot for the throttle. You can turn it on a diem and get the two guns. HEavy Syck only becomes useful when you can put a level 9-10 gun in it. At that point you will ahve much better fightersto chose from. Including the Krayte ( best PvE fighter ).
The Dunelizard was my PvP fighter untill I got a Bel-22.
Heavy scyk is only good if you have a big gun. The 2 weapon slots on a Duney mean a lot in tier2-3
My alt is 2/2/2/2 and has a Dune with only 33k/85k mass used up and I'm using 2 REed lvl 4 weapons and an REed lvl TWO (yes, a lvl 2) engine and I clean up tier 3s in any quantity they may spawn.
The Dunelizard is heavier than anything I've ever bothered to use as an imperial pilot. And we imperial pilots don't get anything with 2 weapon slots untill we reach 4333.
So yeah, the dunelizard is about the best tier1-2 ship I've ever flown, I mean the Y-Wing is heavy and all, but man I'd rather be flying a school bus, I'd probably get better turn rates.

I say Dunelizard. I would say heavy Skyke but the greatest advantage neutrals have are extra weapons. But you sacrifice speed and nimbleness for the extra firepower.

You didn't just dis the Ywing did you? *covers eyes* This displeases me...
Lol, maybe I did!!!! Nah, actually I've flown the Y-Wing a good bit when I was going through this phase with one of my alts where I didn't know what faction to choose. I have since shown that character the correct (imperial) path. It just takes a different kind of pilot to fly, whereas I like having something lightweight but fast and maneuverable. Probably why I loved the A-Wing so much.
Granted... it steers like a Cement truck, but I LIKE IT!
Actually the only reason I said tier 2 is because I consider the dunelizard to be tier 2.
Starter ship - Tier 1
Everything else Tier 2 - 5
Master == Master
but not everyone else thinks like that, so that's why I said tier 1 - 2
