Thread: Col. Leaph Chausew's A-wing. Like it?

Hey Leaph, forget the jsf have you taken on a Vaskai yet?
I took one on last night in a heavy tie. I scored 3 hits on him before he landed on on me. Guess i wasnt packing enough firepower and not enough shields.
They're quick, and kinda small, they will most definatly give you a run for your money, but their no JSF - their larger. If it was as small as a JSF, i dont think i would have tagged the guy as many times as i did. Only reason i lost, was not enough firepower.
22.3k mass
Y=76
R=76
P=74
TS=107.9
You got me YPRs, but the speed on this little RE is sweet.
Hmm. I dueled people in Vaksai' and even people with good engines and experience in them. They're nice but more or less the same size of an X-wing so I have no trouble hitting them...especially after getting used to dueling JSF. Those JSF are good for one thing...improving your aim.
The Vaksai..I'm not sure of it's r,p,y acceleration. Someone told me [though I've forgotten it now]and I think it is better than an A-wings...close to an ARC's if I remember rightly. With 150k mass to play with, people want to be sticking lvl 10 engines re'd in those things...now -that- would be scarier. In fact...the Vaksai is a ship I'd probably use if I went Freelance [which will never happen]. It is rather aesthetically pleasing too. In fact..apart from wishing the heavy X-wing was a little more responcive in exchange for a little less mass..hell 150k mass would be cool I think all the Heavy ships are awesome.
And yeh...the Advanced X-wing is hugely overpowered weaponary wise...I'll soon have 2 lvl 8 re'd guns and a lvl 10 re'd gun on it along with my lvl 10 uber engine and lvl 8 reward shield. Now...I don't pvp much in the x-wing but to me that is way too much firepower...I'd much rather have a little less punch and less mass to play with in exchange for a more repsoncive chassis...but I'm bound to say that since I fly an underpowered nippy A-wing most of the time
.
Oh btw Dum'..as promised, I have you an RG TIE chassis
...I just got to collect it off the nice person who doesn't want it.
And also..NICE engine Mdan', I'm liking the speed and the r,p,y is nicely balanced.

Dont tease me !
Of course i know this means you'll want me as your personal punching bag for a number of rounds
You don't want it...
It's a has a turn radius of an aircraft carrier!
The seats leave a funny imprint on your behind!
(even though I own two)

^You'll probably beat me with that thing.

That'sa nice ship you got there, only things I would change:
Reactor: Are you using all that power there? 12k seems like a lot for an A-Wing if you're using a Reactor Overload. You can get crafted ones with around 9k power for about 800 mass, so you're saving about 500 mass there (not much, but it's an option).
Countermeasures: As you said, hopefully you won't need them in an A-Wing, so if you need the mass I'd takethem out, but if you've got the mass to spare then sure throw 'em in.
Armor: I almost never use armor. Yours is especially low in terms of protection, but is sucking up decent mass. I'd take it out and upgrade something else, namely...
Capacitor: It'sgood, but there's better,especially the stored energy. Stored energy normally isn't needed for anything, but a large stored energy pool is key when using Shunt, since you'll get more shields out of it. You're shields are pretty large there (which, obviously, is a good thing), so it'snot like you'll be wasting energy if Shunting a fully charged capacitor.
If you did the above steps regarding the Reactor, CM and Armor it'd give you approximately 3270 extra mass to play with- not sure if it's enough to warrent it, but maybe, if you can find the right part.
Other then that, it's great. LOVE that engines YPR, not sure how you even managed a 79. I can't wait to RE my Nym's reward engine though...it's going to have either 112.2 or 112.3 top speed after the RE (106.9 now) ![]()

Valid points only in pvp, countermeasures are essential. Trust me. Especially vs. any TIE Oppressors. The 79 pitch was achieved because the initial pitch on that donor engine was 75. I can't find any engines even close to that pre re for my next engine though. I got a 'spare' which should give me about 110 for a topspeed but r,p,y it'll probably be lower than this current engine so I'll reserve it I think.
As for my reactor, I use just over 11k energy but I also run all overload 4's so I need that extra bit of reactor energy for when I run RO4.
My capacitor though could be improved. I 'might' try this.
From exprience though, since I been flying against ships like the JSF which can fit two good guns on, I've been finding I need the armour and those shields at times. I can certainly handle myself vs. a few player opponents at times..but I do get hit sometimes.
