The strike cruiser is almost as big as the corvette and its an imperial ship, why no one mention it?, I just make clear that it will be very stupid if both the rebellion and the empire have the same capital ship. Rebels can use the corvette and we can use the strike cruiser.

Well im not going into much detail now but this situation looks somehow familiar to the jedi discussion ........ make them rare , i dont wanna see hunderts runnning around , make them hard to obtain ... and so on .
We all see the current situation on this issue and so we know how this worked out when some time has passed

As for capital ships ...... well if the requirements on flying a capital ship are high enough there is no need for making it hard to obtain too . Well something should be done to fly it anyhow but no campable loot should be involved .
The basic operation requirements should be around a full group with 3 master pilots on top to maneuver this ship , 2 master Sw's for repairs and 3 others with around 4 4 4 4 to operate the radar , shields and ordenance. All turrets should be manned by another group .... each turret one man . And btw all people abord this ship should have the same space AND groundfaction. I would prefer if capital ships wil be bounded to PA's of a decent size and only the same pa can man it .... that would at least take care that these will stay rare.
And now comes the part that most peolpe wont like ....... if hunted by a full group of fighters the capital ship shouldn't have a chance ... no I win button here. So this full capital ship manned by around 16 and needs an fighter escort .
And last ....... a corvette class ship should be the largest 'capital' ship controllable ....... NO stardestroyers or corellian cruisers. In a space battle zone (which will hopefully introduced) NPC ships of these classes will do great . Well there must be come content for the capital ships somehow and taking part in a space battle zone were large cruisers engage each other will be fun for everyone .

I dont really care of the ships names that might be controlled ....... important is that the system works not this ' i want that ship for this faction' ... 'no i want this' .... 'why is nobody mentioning this ship' nonsense .

I just hope jedi can't be a part of boarding parties. If jedi get to space, then screwit. Space is the last "star wars" feeling for me, and it's starting to get tained by seeing all these Jedi Starfighters and Belbullab-22s around. It SHOULD be based on blasters, commandos, and slicers and all that. No more sabers for god's sake! They already are infesting the ground.

i didn't read every post in this thread so excuse me if any of this has been said before.



1) To operate and own a capital ship i think a special elite pilot profession should be developed. And to unlock that profession the player should have completed all 3 squads of thier chosen faction to prove to thier superiors that they are indeed the best of the best.


The boxes should be set up similar to the current pilot boxes with the exception of the Ship Certification boxes. Instead of completing the box and going to your friendly SW to purchase a chassis, you would need as an Imperial or Rebel a set amount of faction pointsto purchase the new ship type ( Lambda Shuttle, Gunship, etc). Then once you got it you can then outfit it with your favorite components. All ship chassis that you unlock with the exception of the Lambda shuttle would be POB only. Thats not saying that you couldn't still do your tier missions in your favorite starfighter. You should still beable to. but the final mission for tier 4should be group only and you should be excpected to be in a gun ship with players as yourfighter escort for it.


For Freelance i'm not sure if they could implement some sort of faction for them. so maybe a huge amount of prestige points would be needed for them to get the chassis.


2) To actually fly it you should have a minimum group size or else it just sits in your data pad. Maybe 20 players depending on the size of the ship.


3) Once you've made it to 4/4/4/4 and are ready for your Ace mission, thats when you would be required to take over a capital ship which in turn becomes yours at the end.


added: This capital ship that you get at the end is a one time deal. it's your reward for making it to Ace. you can not purchase another one with faction points and it can not be traded.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Maybe you could make it so for every jedi that is part of a boarding party, add enough SBDs or Droidekas to make it at least as hard to board as it would have been for a regular boarding party before the SBDs, Droidekas, etc. ...maybe...I really dunno about this anymore. After the 'holy crap! capital ships!' euphoria wore off, I started to see the sense in the doomsayer's statements, which is why I haven't updated that thread I started shortly after this one appeared about ideas for what ships should be included...

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Amen to that, i dont want a 1337 j3d1 with his uber saber owning everyone on the ship, let alone a party of jedi *shudder*, There should be some checks and balances in a situation like that.

there should be a set number of corvets threw space. they spawn npc's with the faction controling em and to get control of it u have tofight ur way up ot the bridge take the pitols seat and u can fly call fly it kepp it away from the other faction. that coudl be a simple idea

whenever fight comes to mind, jedi will always be there. Id rather have the ground fighting stay with the ground

My 2cents:


Players want


1) Cap ships & (POB) ships to be revamped.


2) Cap ships & space to have a dramatic effect on the GCW.


3) To be able to not only destroy opposing faction cap ships, but have the ability to capture them as well.


4) Want cap ships to act as player space bases, boardable, respawn/repair, storage, declare overt, ect.


5) To give purpose to smugglers and freelance pilots in the GCW.


6) To be able to attack, control, and capture space stations.


7) To promote guild factional alliances in the GCW for larger scale battles in space.


8) Want space stations to be like mini cities in space.


I have a prepared response to these points, and a system I believe is workable for cap ships & the GCW in space. I don't have the time to type it out right now, but will post the full idea when I get some time to type, so here is just my initial wants.

First off I would like to say great job guys on all your idea's. Some of you have spent a lot of time thinking about this subject and spelling it out in concide detail. Second off I would also say that i couldnt continue to read ofter the 3-4th page.. SoI may be repeating other people. A few of the things thatI did notice that kept coming up are:


1. Number of people suggested to run these things seems to be a bit outragious...10-18? Some suggestions as high as 50 .. Remember group caps are at 8 now. This is assuming that in order to operate any part of the ship you need to be in a group with the owner. Dont know about you guys but its hard to get 2+ people in my VT. Last timeIblew upa vette it had 7 guns....


2. Guilds... Not all high lvl people are in a guild... sowhy should guilds be the only 'enities' to own/borrow a capitol ship?


3. NewPilot Professions... Like this idea, however you might want to build it more around... say the road to Jedi.. (oxymoronI know). What I am specificely refering to is the Padawan-Knight-Guardian-Master Tree. Make it something like Gunship-Vette-Neb-SD(not nessesarly a star destroyer)piloting certification.Makeit takes 50,000,000 prestige points and say 50,000 Faction points to move up a box. Neutral Pilots shouldnt even have a chanceat a Cap ship unless they are ground-effiliated. I seem to recall the name of the original game as 'Star Wars: An Empire Divided'....


3. Caps on Caps (lol). This one is one thatI totaly agree with! 1 Cap ship per person!


4. Boarding. Um where are we goin to get the people to board/defendyour Capitol ships? I do like the fighter launching idea though. You should be able to carry up to a max of 4 fighters in your bays.


5. Shipwrights... whoa feel the heat now lol. Seriously they need a hand in this! Make it so you can only install a Elite Part in your Cap ship. No RE's! Nothing that doesnt whiegh under 250k!

In the video it does have you flying the corellian corvetter but not theimpereal ship(dam i cant remeber its name its imp anyway)and im asuming here that the corellian corvetter hass less guns then the other i dont think massive ships such as the whatever its name could be flown but smaller ones like the corvette could sorry to stick some coal in your stocking but i just dont see them doing it


As fur gun controls this brings up the point i had about multi person fighters like the y-wing a droid or NPC should be able to be bought and put to work in one of these massive ships and the longer you have had one the better it is at blasting those irritating flys of a fighter that will be swarming these ships a sort of skill tree for NPCs or just a droid that can be programmed would be simplier
