Well, been playing ground game since launch with a break in the middle, but just got the expansion. I was curious if anyone could recommend a good ship to start with that doesn't require any pilot skills, just something to get me started. I appreciate the help.

If I remember correct a heavy Z-95 is a novice pilot ship. Its got a ton of mass compaired to the normal Z-95. (I took all my A-wing parts off my A-wing stuck them on the Heavy Z-95 and then put a level 10 weapon on it. It was nice. I think this will server you best.

Also a ShipWright makes them.

for the record... There is no cert for the heavy variants. A heavy scyk is the same cert as the starter scyk, so it useable at novice.

Having recently bought and unpacked a deed for a Heavy TIE, I could've sworn it said it required 1000. It did NOT say "Novice Pilot."

Maybe this guy should first decide which faction of squadron he'd like to fly for before we get him all excited about Dunelizards, and the Heavies.

Let me break it down a lil more for all "starter" ships mentioned.

Dunelizard- Freelance based, requires first box inship certification tree.

Heavy Tie- Imperial faction based, requires first box in ship certification tree.

Heavy Syck- Freelance based, can be flown at novice level.

Heavy Z-95- Rebel based, can eb flown at novice level.

Why does the Heavy TIE require one box gained in order to fly it? Ask the developers really, but i think it has to do with it being considered an upgrade to the Standard TIE, which you get at level 1, whereas the novice ship is considered a "Light-duty" fighter. Be advised that though all of these ships can be purchased from shipwrights, the Heavies require asteroid resources which can inflate the price to unpleasant ranges. (Heavy TIE's go for 500k on my server....i found this out when i built one for personal use, figured 350k was way too high for anyone to buy it, then stored it on my vendor. It was gone in a couple hours.)

Just to be picky, picky. The Heavy Tie is 1000 cert, not novice, like the scyk and Z-95. And my favorite starter craft is by far the Heavy Tie, I used it to kill a corvette once. Not to bad for a "starter" craft.

One other note on the the Heavy varients: Because they use asteroidal resources they can be rather pricey. On my server they were going for 400K to 500K last weekif you could find any in stock.
