What X-Wings and Y-Wings? The problem is that my targets do no damage. I am -only- fighting A-Wings and B-Wings, and I -have- to kill -waves-, IE, I need to kill all enemy fighters BEFORE the next wave shows up 5 times.... I tried using bomber strike, but one of my friends who was flying with me accidently shot one of the bombers, and the bombers started attacking us.

It's not impossible. Sounds like you need to bring some friends, look at upgrading your equipment, or just simply practice. It's not necessarily something you're going to excel at the first time through since, unlike the ground game, it actually relies on your hand-eye coordination and skill as a pilot - there's no magic "I win" move or special mods that you can get to make you somehow a better pilot. You either are or you're not - if you're not, you need to practice.

And if you really want to insist it's impossible - it's not, I'm proof of that, having soloed every mission in Black Epsilon, Imperial Inquisition and Storm Squadron. It's about time for me to briefly leave the comfort of the Empire and run up the other 6 squadrons and solo those too. I'm not trying to be arrogant here, I'm simply stating a fact - it IS possible to do, and it IS possible to solo it. There are many on this board who have.

I brought three friends with me, a Tier 2 and a Tier 4. I have rather good equipment -- the best I could find with a vendor search.

I am also a child of the Wing Commander generation, so I am probably better than 90% of pilots in the game -- hand-eye gaming is what I am good at, hell, I am programming a space-sim :/

I just have trouble killing A-Wings in under 10 seconds, I had no trouble slaughtering Salthi in Wing Commander I ; This may be because I am a conservative pilot, but I do usually end up accomplishing my goal. I had no trouble with Mission 2, that was a cakewalk, except for the large number of ships I had following me at one point (the fun was killing each and every last rebel).

We just ended up getting swarmed after killing around 70 A-Wings; We always ended up with one more before the next wave arrived, and then we slowed down from exhaustion.

Also, did you fly Storm Squadron FIRST? Because I am still using a TIE Heavy, I don't have a JSF yet (Well, I do, but I can't use it yet.)

I solo'd this mission last night in my Heavy Tie, it took 3 attempts though! I think the hardest part about it is the fact that its A-wings which I think are the hardest reb ship to hit. With practice you just learn exactly where to aim to hit the A-wing and with weapon overload 3 running it doesnt take many hits to destroy them.

Yeah I had that same problem with that part of the mission, just away to kill last A-Wing and the next wave spawns. I tried this about 8 times solo before finally just giving up my pride and asking for help! Easy with a buddy who was tier 4.

I was pilot 3222 yesterday im now 4333 Im totally loving it now.

That mission was hardbut please everyone don't laugh at me when I say this, I never once used droid commands or even had a clue how to use them till late lastnight I went on this board and read the stickies.

I now have my droid commands and the difference is unbelievable. I know now I could solo this mission if I had Capacitor Overload and weapon overload on but sadly I had no clue. This board has amazing stickies.

I always loved JTLS and thought I was a great pilot, then got stuck for ages, sucked it up and asked for help, then when i read this board I realised just how much more I needed to know.

The amount of fun now in spaceis amazing, much better than ground game just now for me. Can't wait to master and head out into deep space for some PvP and really put my skill to the test!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - Julio Torres

No shame in that at all. And it doesnt denigrate you at all to need help on missions. Just because something is possiable doesnt mean it is preferable. I solo these missions partially because I can and because I am to lazy to ask for assistance. This has often forced me to learn new tactics and improve my ship handling skills beyond normal means. But what it all boils down to is personal preferance. Space is more then just a aspect of the game to me. Its my favorite part.

Just wait till you get to mission 2. I just solod it and was suprised with myself. Of course though when I finished the first one I trained in the equipment box and now use Ionic Pulse weapon, type 4 starfighter engine 65 65 65 108, type 4 SG 1395 each and type 4 capacitor 1100. These in conjunction with my droid commands, which are VERY valuable, enabled me to completely destroy a heavy rebel battle group consisting of a teir 4 Nova Courier and 10 mixed A and X wing variants teir 3. Theres always somthing better out there and this time it was me thank god. But yea just go to a vendor and pick up some real good parts, DI's and chips and you can have quite the fighter on your hands. Heavy tie is the fighter I have been using since I was able to and with the proper equipment and know how it is a deadly encounter with it.

I already soloed Mission 2, I just can't do Mission 3 -- I'm not fast enough.

It's doable ...but just keep trying until you start really falling behind, then break off. If things don't click for you, you won't get it that time through. I tried that 4 times before getting it, and when I did, it was just ... well, tracking my target felt different, and I KNEW I could do it. I'm making it a point to solo all 9 squadrons, myself, and I'm up to 6: RSF, Inquisition, Crimson Phoenix, SS, BE, and SA so far (in that order).
