Yes, the ARC 170 is a quest only ship for rebels. You must be of the rebel faction to do the mission, but you can switch back to imperial after you finish the mission to fly it, and it can be flown by any pilot (rebel, neutral, imp) who has the 4333 skill (BUT - they must have done the quest to fly it)
Go down and its at the end of the guide's first post. Talk to queen etc...

The ARC is not like the JSF, it's more like the Vaksai/RGI, being that only that faction can pilot it. Granted, there is a bug that will let you use it, but that's probably going to be fixed by 2007.
The ARC must be unpacked by a 4xxx Rebel pilot, so that right there is your problem. Being a Neutral pilot, you aren't certified to unpack the ship, thus preventing you from using it.
My real question is if the RGI/Vaksai are both bugged as the ARC is. Now that would be scary.
Not trying to grief or anything, but you're not correct about that. The ARC-170 is certified like an Actis (JSF) and is meant to be piloted/unpacked/packed by any 4xxx pilot that has previously completed the quest. It's not a bug. The reasoning behind this (which the developers have stated before) is that they didn't want to penalize a player who did the quest and then decided to drop the faction later on.
Confirmed. I was reb pilot when I got mine, I can still fly it now that I'm freelance. Only the Vaksai, RGI and ADV X-Wing have faction requirements.

I stand corrected then. I guess I never really focused much on the ARC, since I got it, flew it out to see it, redeeded it, and now have it on display. And that's been ages ago, so it seems.
I guess, then, the real question is "Where's the freelance quest for the same". I don't think you can count the B-22, since that isn't quested, but then again, I guess that is their answer for freelancers.

The only faction requirement is in doing the quest itself. You must be a rebel ground combatant to do it as you need to rescue prisoners from an imperial prison on Dathomir as the next to last part. The ARC 170 is listed in all pilots 4,x,x,x hyper manuverable starfighters box.

just dont deed it, i did andnow the csr's will not put it back into my data pad...and i wanted to play with it some.
if someone can point me to were a dev has posted that it should be re-usable after changing faction, going back to rebel and what not that would be great as i can tell the csr's to go read it and to please put it back into my data pad for me...

Hmm...aside from the Vaksai, I guess there's no equivalent quest like the ARC-170 or Actis for neutral pilots only. Bonus for being a faction player, it seems.

Actually the bonus for Freelance pilots is being able to get both the ARC-170 and the JSF without losing your squadron.

Has anyone been able to load Blasters into the No.1 Slot that DO NOT float out in space 50m off the wing?
All the ones I have tried don't mount properly.

Thanks, I'll give those a shot. I sell so many crafted blasters, but I never use them myself.
