I bet to differ about it not being a good combat ship. Sure, toss pvp out the window if you're flying it. I've seen nova's out there with a full crew doing very well in areas with heavy radar contacts. If the nova has a well trained crew, there are very few things that ship can't survive in PvE. I love my nova. I don't decorate it because it is a warship. The only items inside are repair kits and missiles. Whenever I've taken my turret gunners out for training runs, my loot container is always full of components and a fat credit chip. And they get fat XP while they're at it.

Esentially each ship is the same in terms of performance, just that the yt has one less missile slot ... but in my opinion, missiles are not all that important. I'd much rather be flying in a nice straight line to give my gunners a steady platform to fire from instead of jinking around trying to get a missile lock.

I've never had the chance to pilot a Decimator, but I think that central cockpit would be -very- nice to pilot from, because I've spent a lot of time in the nova's low, offset one. At least the YT has the offset cockpit raised enough to give you a decent view from left to right, but with the Nova, you don't get that at all. A good view is so important in combat, and with my hands on the stick and throttle, I don't have time to switch from first to third person view and swivel the mouse around.

The best interior? For sure the coolest -looking- interior is the Decimator, you have skylights and a forward viewport that I am so envious of! But your interior has a bunch dead areas that you can actually move a pc into and the usable area is broken up by ramps and odd shaped rooms. Butit is still better than the YT. The interior of that ship looks like an abandoned farm house, it's small, irregular and there is no window save the cockpit canopy. So IMO, my Nova has these two other ships beat. It's spacious and well organized, like a frieghter should look like inside, plus there is no dead space.

I think MP ships are spectacular for PvE combat, with two half decent gunners, I can camp a T3 Evil tyrant spawn with my non re'd reward sheilds and never have to jump into the ops chair for shunts or reinforcements. T4 and above and esp against gunships in DS or kessel, I need a good ops guy, or (with the exploit) a gunner who knows enough to run the droid. And both the gunners and the ops guy have to be on TS.

I've PvP'd in the Nova as well, and it's pretty disapointing, although I had two crack gunners and managed to keep a winning record. With any luck, these new 'elite' level components will make the MP ships into the battle horse that they should be.

I'm actualy thinking of moth balling my nova and switching the parts over to a YT on my alt. This will free up a slot for a mining ship and becasue I've run my Nova enough too feel that the poor view is a considerable handicap. I also plan to see if the different profiles of the ships is a factor in combat.

I think the Decimator has the best interior look, yes...if you're looking for a warship. I think the Nova, on the other hand, really has a freighter feel inside, and I like it for that. It feels like a smuggler's ship, something an Alliance vessel would use to carry contraband weapons to underarmed Rebel factions on a thousand worlds while dodging Imperial TIE patrols. So as far as appearance goes, it's really what you're looking for in the ship that makes the difference.

Though I do have to say the interior of the YT was a disappointment to me.

They are still a poor choice for PvE, you could have all those pilots in other ships doing alot more damage then the multiplayer ship can. Its advantages are that it can be alot of fun to fly for PvE combat even if it isn't very goodor that you can take up some low level pilots for some fun and xp. That's my view of it anyway and I'm sticking with it

The YT's guns can fire across the plane of the ship, making that best of the 3 since it can concentrate fire. It does have one fewer ordinance slot, but only one missile out of a volley counts anyway.

One thing to bear in mind that you might be able to dish out more damage in several fighters, but lets face it, it's so much more fun to do it in a Multiplayer ship

In fact we have tried space PVP with POB ships in Starsider with the following restrictions:
-no fighters were allowed to participate
-blasters were limited to level 5
-missiles were restricted.

This is not general PVP, but it worked excellent and it was more than fun. Other than that they can be used as command/communication ships, but in combat they are vulnerable. (I was able to take out two decimators with excellent crews and components in pvp in a matter of seconds with an X wing some months ago. Same goes for any of the POB ships.)

I originally went imp pilot, because imo the decimator looks wayyyy sexier then the other 2. but once I went rebel on the ground, I decided to go privateer. I'm liking the yt...I store my molecular clamps and stuff in it
