Thread: Royal Tie Misson Soloable?
The RG interceptor mission is probably still easier than the other two. Last I knew, the gunboats that spawned for it were only tier3, whereas in the Rebel and Neutral they are tier5.
Basically for any of these 3 missions the key decision is how much pain do you want? By which I mean, how much do you want to joust duck and dodge gunboats at the end.
First part of the mission is to catch the Corvette. Second part is to escort it back while defending. The key is in the delay between the two. If you want a harder mission, then catch and disable the corvette as fast as you can. Then at the end run, you will have plenty of gunbout action to cope with. If you're not so much into pain, then you strip the corvette, taking out gun5, and shields, then wait until it gets much closer to where its going before you blow up the engine (guides and instructions for corvettes have been done much better in other places on these boards). If you went long enough, then at the end there wont be time for gunboats to spawn. It's cheesy, and most times I pick a happy middle ground. Be warned, that if you try to wait too long, the corvette will hyperjump. Other guides have posted exit waypoints for each mission, iirc.
Ok here's some advise for this mission.
1. Clear out fighter escort
2. Wait till your 4K away from kash station before capturing the vette. This is very important later on
3. Kill the waves of spawn after you capture it,
4. I think it's the 4th wave that spawns with 1 gunboat. You need to destroy this one gunboat.
5. If you have destroyed the one gunboat then you can leaves the 2 that spawn after it alone since they will not be able to destroy the vette before it hypers out because you were 4k away from the station when you captured it.
6. After you pass the mission. LAND right away or the two gunboats will kill you. This doesn't affect you after you've completed the mission but save yourself some unneeded repair cost also tell anyone with you to hyper out or land the gunboats can most at 1500m and will hunt you down.
the sure way is to take out the initial fighters and then just follow the vette until it jumps and mark that waypoint. then retake the mission take out gun #5 then the two shields and get behind the vette and follow it until it is at the 1.5km from jump point and disable it.
when the first spawn comes disable all but one ship and the last one leave it about 10-15% of its engine left and you shouldnt have to worry about any future spawns.
Come to think of it, i dont think i destroyed the GBs in this mission. I just kept them off the vette as best i could until it hypered. At which point they were all gunning at me. at which point i hypered. Minimizing the time window in which the vette would be exposed to the GB's was key.

The distance and desitination varies depending on the mission. Rebel mission goes to that outpost, and I presume the Imperial heads to their's. Jumpout point is also different distances, so 4km is too late in some cases.

You don't need to destroy any of the ships that spawn. In theory you could leave them all alone and hope for the best. Done this often enough without destroying any gunboat.
