Thread: Shields or Armour?
If I have room, I include some armor, even if it's low-level armor. But when I don't have room, armor is obviously the first to go. I have to say, armor has saved my bacon a couple of times in PvE. I haven't really PvP'd yet, so don't know how effective it would be there.

I can't stand not having the slot filled.
...I dunno ... just can't stand it.
That said here's what I use.
My PoB's all have the highest armor I can make/find ... but that goes without saying, armor only needs mass, and a PoB can't run out of available mass with current available equip.
My Opressor has light wieght armor with about 500 points front and back.
My Firespray has about 1200 armor front and back (more if I have extra mass, depends on what components I'm favoring lately. And if I ever need the mass, armor will be sacrificed.
I think pretty much everything else I fly I equip with the lightest armor I have .. usually about 500 mass and like 120 to 200 armor points.
For me armor is just a slot I like to have filled, but not a necessary component.
I only strap armour onto my fighter if i'm planning to take on stuff like a vette or tier 5 gunships. even then its only low level shields just to buy me some time to hit cap-to-shield-shunt.
In terms of weapons i enjoy using a solid pair of Advanced Ion/Disrupters at only 14k mass a piece. leave plenty of room in my JSF for some nice missiles or protons.
JSF and grevious dont have enough mass imo for realy high level weapons like some RE'ed level 8's, i use those type of weapons in my KSE
