YO Monsofo...Sticky this thread, add it to the FAQ.
And for the love of all that lives on this planet, everyone point the whiners and the PvP newbies to this thread. Maybe they can glom something useful off of it and they will stop making posts about how PvP damage needs to be reduced to 10% so that they can be "ub3r l337 d3wds"...
PS did I spell that right? my leet speak isn't so good!!
PVP damage needs to be reduced!

PVP is just fine with me the way that it is. This is coming from a complete noob. ( 1 total PVP fight) Sure, I got killed, but ya just can't beat the rush!
boonswagger wrote:Thank you for all of this information. I have not tried PVP in space yet since I am busy trying to level through the pilot tiers at the moment, however I plan to try it in the future. In order to be good at PVP i figure that I need to have ace at least in my chosen pilot profession and have no problem with any situation in PVE before I even think about attempting it.
eh, it's still fun even if you don't have the most uber equipment and can't handle everything PVE can throw at you (for instance, the droid fighter swarms in Endor space, I don't like them much heh), you just have to remember, though it's usually over fairly quick (though I hear it lasts a good while between two good pilots in small craft), if you're in Deep Space (which implies master of pilot prof of course) there's no decay, so there's no real harm done, just keep trying

meh, i added a link to my sig. As much as i post on this damn board, it'll never get lost
Up towards the top Remilliod said anything big is good at taking out gunships, but I set a Ze4 imp gunship on fire before hyperspacing out for repairs with a Z95 just by noticing that it only had guns on the top and staying near the bottom. If going after gunships (not very many in PvE where i am in training) pay attention todownsides like this andTAKE OUT THE ESCORTS those are the main reason i had to hyperspace out ( a few annoying interceptors). Also im notto sure but im currently thinking on a theory for making gunships go boom. Have a good missle launcher and ammo, have a good laser vs. shields and armor then once shield and armorare, down BOOM goes the missle(s). I have used this with starships and its pretty effective.
If there are any flaws with my idea let me know

The tactic is so simple it's sickening...
fly under them and disable reactor.
As long as you don't make the noobish error of going above the horizontal plane of the gboat, you can sit there all day blasting it into oblivion.
Even if you're in deep space, 3 gboats in a row, just take out all three's reators... then have a sandwich while you kill em.
So you got a "turner" on you... (a gboat that loves to roll and pitch), no problem... it can't turn forever... and once it resumes its present tack it's like a half dead fambaa.
One word of caution... I've seen more imperial pilots (including myself) killed because we were concentrating on the gboat, and failed to notice the rebel player in the A Wing that has been sneaking up underneath us...
Situational Awareness... and a lesson in humility. Remember the Z.
By the way all, for those of you who fly in dedicated squadrons whether PvP or PvE... I highly recommend teamspeak be your communications of choice... no one has time to type in group chat while engaged with hungry players. Less than a second is all it takes to go to the space version of Davy Jones' locker.
If you are going to shoot somone down... do it! Don't knock off systems if you can just blow them up, disableing somone a part at a time causes more decay than if you just make them into a sparkler.
Respect your fellow player, they worked just as hard as you did on looting and REing thoes parts try to minimise the colateral damage you inflict, and hopefuly they will do the same.
At the same time you are going out to PvP and be blown up... don't get bent out of shape if your engines get blown off it happens accedentaly all the time.
