Interesting.... handy tip
But, 8 tier 4s on a tier 2 ship? come on....
Hehehe agreed.. It's tough. But collect that loot man, get some stuff carefully re'ed by a good shipwright. If you don't know one, find one!
(not too make anyone cry but when I started out I needed help with tier 3 through Ace on Black Epsilon and then solo'ed SS, Imp Inq, and Smugglers Alliance in 18-21 hours each... so once you have good gear and have a good understanding of how the NPC's react.. anything is soloable!)

Problem I am having with SS is the first tier 3 mission. Or the first extended multi-task multi-mission mission. In a tier 2 Tie/IN going up against waves of tier 3 a-wings when lag and server connection is an issue is bad enough. But then when you've had several "mission completed" messages, and immediately get a new mission. It's beyond a joke.

That's another thing I've found over time.
Storm was my first ace, since then I've done 2 of the privateers and one of the rebel squads and none of them have been as long and oddly strung together since.
The privateer stuff was simple, they were really just one mission at a time. The rebel stuff was a little longer, but still not even close to Storm's.
One thing I never got was the other squads missions all made sense.
Part 1) Hold off soandso's forces while we scan the system.
Part 2) We've located the target go take them out.
Part 3) Continue providing cover while our forces pull out.
Mission complete.
Storm's missions were more like:
Part 1) Go destroy the rebel ship.
Part 2) Deliver this intel to this shuttle.
Part 3) Survive the ambush.
Part 4) Scan the rebel command ship.
Part 5) Escort this freighter.
Part 6) Destroy the the rebel command ship (yeah, that same one we had you scan then destroy an hour ago, here we'll re-spawn it for you.)
Part 7) Survive another ambush.
Part 8) Escort the under-cover shuttle.
Mission Failed --- you were too slow.
I think that's another part of what makes Storm such a pain is that you never feel like your acomplishing anything, the missions feel like all the left-overs strung together for ages on end.

wow, everyone's leaving out one of the items that make Storm the most frustrating, and hair raising.Several of the escort missions lead you right into a spawn of agressive tier 5's, which only add to the swarm of A-wingssmashing into you like angry bees. Just try getting a straight shot off when there's an A-wing slamming into you every 10 seconds shaking your screen. This is during your tier 3 missions so your mostly in tier 2 gear at that point.
There are a lot of nasty spawns in Endor which can make SS even harder, but as your situational awareness increases, it becomes easier to avoid them. They're definitely another wrench in Storm Squadron's works, though.
... no, there's no avoiding them, for example one of the missions start with docking to a disabled frieghter. There's a tier 5 pirate spawn within 500m of the stationary frieghter (unless they've moved it recently) you have to dock to .. there's no getting to it without atracting those pirates.
If your lucky someone else will have them occupied, awareness has nothing to do with it.
Pretty much what happened to me, I went at it again this evening and surprise! I finished it. Attracted a few tier 4s along the way, but armed with the hyperspace within system suggestion, was able to avoid them. Took 2 hrs all told. Glad it's over but God, I reallllllllly suggest they change it so's you don't fail the entire line if you don't complete in one session. Nuts.

The first time I thought oh well after about an hour and a half as I was getting tired. So I logged. Only to find I had to start right at the beginning again. /hmmm, glitch? /shrug oh well, tried again. After another hour and a half I had the mission to rescue a disabled freighter (I think, this was last week) which had conveniently spawned near a group of tier 4 nasties of some description (can't remember exactly what) There was an imp station within 2k so I tried luring them there so at least I had wing support before going for the frieghter, but no, the obviously took one look at the might of the imperial empire and high tailed it back to their spawn spot. /thanks /bitter
After about half an hour of this I tried to do a quick in/out and get the freighter. Nope, spotted and toast in what seemed like 30 secs. /bummer
Now, although I found it tough to hit those a-wings, and the missions(ette)s took a long time, I reckon I could have got through it it it hadn't been for that random tier 4 spawn. BUT the thing that gets me is that on logging (for whatever reason) the whole mission line counts as failed and you have to start the whole lot again. I'm not going to risk wasting another 2-3 hours online when I don't get on all that often anyway. You should get credit for the missions that were listed as "completed". Did try a CSR who said /bug it, which I did. But it seems that it may be "working as intended" from what the forums say.
So that's my beef - save the mission status in between sessions properly.....

BE is the hardest. Imperial Inq is a cake walk. Storm is boring not hard.
Were that the case then you'd see tons of "help I can't complete this mission" from BE pilots.
Simply compare the number of posts asking for advice/help with the squads missions on the forums here and it's plain to see that Storm is the toughest.
/agree
For my experience,i soloed smuggler alliance, and helped many people with their missions (rebs or imps) and i tried imperial SS on another server!wow! It is really difficult!
And a master black epsilon helped me for tier3 mission, and yes,he found it really hard too,not only long!![]()
Don't forget to activate you program commands, like weapon overload!
But storm is really, really fun,and the best way i guess to learn pilot![]()
A skilled pilot can easily do all, since there's a learning curve involved.
This might not be the correct place to ask, but here goes . . .
New to the game. An Imperial Ace last night helped me out by getting my first ship Tie Fighter and took me up and gave me a flying lesson.
Now I have some of the basics down, where do I start on the path to Imperial Ace? Is there a squadron or place best suited to a first time pilot?
Cheers!
ok, first I'll give my default answer... check out the posts at the top of this forum, the Pilot FAQ as well as the K.I.S.S. series that 1st_Viduus put together.
That should get you well on your way, I know it's a lot readin but so worthwhile.
Basically, you'll need to run the missions from the squadron recruiter. You should be able to get through Imperial Pilot 2,2,2,2 before you need too much help. Once you get to tier 3 you'll probably want to find someone to help you out.
Check out those threads though. Really is worth it.
