I've got my Y-8 set up with the tractor beam in the main, forward gun, the mining laser in the top turret, and a defensive gun in the bottom turret. Took it out for a test run the other day, and it seemed to work fairly efficiently. I would have preferred having the mining laser in the main gun and the tractor beam in the top turret, but because of the bug with the tractor beam not working in a turret slot...had to find an alternative. This one seems to be effective.

Currently I'm using my oppresor for mining to collect all the resources I need to have the new POB components and Y-8 only components crafted.

I'll outfit with that stuff... but, personally, forward firing mk 3 mining laser (player crafted), upper turret player crafted tractor beam. rear firing turret uses a reward blaster hitting for 4150 max damage.

I was thrilled last night to see I could finally drop decorations in this bad boy. The main advantage I see to using this vessel is the massive cargo hold 5,000 units (I understand that the player crafted Y-8 only cargo hold will hold much more than the 5k resources.)

That will be my multi person setup, for mining solo. I just replace the tractor beam with either another defensive weapon or an additional mk3 mining laser.

(BTW... I have tried setting this ship up in the same way as I would setup a decimator.. better YPR than the existing POB's and the addition of the forward firing laser is nice. Loaded it with 3 hard hitting lasers and it just owned. Sure, only one ordance slot, but a lot of fun!)

Has anyone tried to work with TWO Y-8's andhaving one inverted?

A minimum crew of two for each ship.

It overcomes the limited firing arc thing.

And its tantamount to haveing more turrets. But on different ships.

With a two man crew. Buddy of Mine and I took the Y8 out fora spin. Work'd different configurations. Here are our results.

Tractors bugg'd so pilot doens't know if you are fishing or not

So use the minig lasers to collect everything. Once roids get outta range turn back around and hit the big beast again. Lower turret for defense. When attacked turret gunner moves to lower. That is what works best for us. In fighter sure we can collect more in a quicker pace. But in the long run we figured we were breaking even from going to land and empty our hold. Still in the process of getting my hands on Y8 mining lasers.

POB capacitor wasn't worth the resources. A looted lvl 9 was almost exactly the same before being RE'd

Not sure if I am going to try the new parts. Maybe once I get a more steady stream of space resources.
